The question was softly asked, as if the speaker was scared to shatter the quiet peace of the morning. It was cold, late Decembers in New York always were, and the snow outside only did more to muffle any sounds.
Steve’s eyes were closed, and he didn’t respond immediately, instead lost in thought. How did we get here? Only a few months previous, this scenario would have been an impossibility. Loki curled up into his chest, the avengers and any thought of needing to save the world far from Steve’s mind, not a care in the world. Steve continued stroking Loki’s hair as he thought about Loki’s question.
“We got lucky,” Steve responded.
“No, I mean how did we get here, this isn’t my bed. And it sure as hell isn’t yours,” Loki scoffed.
Steve’s eyes shot open, and he sat up in a panic, throwing Loki off of him in the rush. “No, no, no, shit,” he mumbled as he looked around, and to his dismay he recognized the room. His head began to ache as last night’s events flashed in his mind. “This is Tony’s room.. we must have had too much of the asgardian beer Thor brought around, oh god, we have to go, now.”
