@s4ns3t-l0v3r Ahhh, yeah, I can see how that line of logic makes sense—but I have to disagree with the root sentiment towards the Gadgets. I don't think the narrative gives the implication that using the Happy Gadgets at all is by-default a bad/incorrect decision, but rather Takopi's lack of Understanding the kids' situations leads him to use the gadgets Improperly. (I think the Gadgets & Takopi/Happians are supposed to be significantly more allegorical/symbolic than the human characters are, so we kinda have to view them through two lenses at once to fully understand them lol.) Like, for instance, a simple bandaid won't do much-if-anything to help a broken bone to heal, but that doesn't then mean that All bandaids are bad or useless all the time, they just need to be used in the correct situation. And similarly if you have a papercut on your finger but someone puts a bandaid on your forehead instead, that's not going to do anything to help the injury heal—and *that's* basically was Takopi was originally doing with the Happy Gadgets, just trying to slap colorful little bandaids all over the place willy-nilly (Because Bandaids Help When You're Hurt! :D) without taking the time to understand Where Shizuka was actually injured and whether what she needed to heal was bandaids or stitches or a full on plaster cast. ...Okay I think the metaphor is getting away from me a little bit 😂 but I hope that explained it a little more at least?

Because I do agree that yeah, the main point the story is trying to tell is about Being There for others, but in order to Be There for someone you have to take the time to Understand them as well. (Not having to know every-single-detail-ever of their life, but at least enough to grasp the situation more than vaguely being "unhappy"/"having a bad time" lol.) Like Takopi says: "Happiness is born from talking." 'Talking' in this case is shorthand for a broader scope than just simply 'speaking words' though; it insinuates Clear Communication, Understanding One Another—achieving Genuine Connection with someone. *That's* where True Happiness comes from according to this story, and That's why Takopi gives up his physical form to literally Become the connection between Shizuka & Marina in the final timeline. (Like, Takopi literally *becomes* the Happy Ribbon, stretching infinitely even between entirely different timelines in order to help the girls Connect in a way they wouldn't have been able to without Takopi's collective knowledge & influence, it's so sweet???? 😭💘)

So, no, the Gadgets and even Takopi's interference as a whole don't somehow magically "fix" everything about the kids' lives—their situations & parents' behaviours are still garbage in their various ways—but now at least the girls are able to Connect with and lean on each other instead of having to suffer through their struggles all alone they way they do in the timelines where Takopi Doesn't intervene~ 🥲

(And same thing for Azuma, just with his own separate friendgroup because his neuroses around Shizuka are a bit more than Takopi could fix with a Commonality link 😂)
