Sophie, Chris, and Nohea Chase were of different origins, but one family. They took Jack's last name since Danny lost three coin-flips in a row, much to the adoption office's unamusment. But, between Danny's trust fund and both of their jobs, let it be known that all three kids would be provided for.

Danny was the disciplinarian, surprisingly enough. He had the strong hand in the soft glove, channeling his mother to ensure that the trio understood why they were in trouble.

Jack was the friend, the one they'd run to after Danny drew the line. He always made sure his husband wasn't shown in a bad light, though, elaborating further on anything Danny tried to explain.

Between the two of them, their adoptive children learned the meaning of love, trust, respect, and most of all, acceptance.

The slightest hesitation, and Jack would flip him over, disarm him, or some other embarrassing method of showing him exactly how weak he was.

Jack was thinner, but the muscle was there. Hiding. Just like everything else about the hunters' son.

Danny didn't need Jack to be there to notice his mistakes, anymore; he just needed to feel the hitch in his breath, the pause in his motion, the slightest loss of rhythm in his movements and he'd just cringe; it's like could feel the attack even though it wasn't happening.

Start over, and keep moving. Don't stop.

With a nod to the empty air, he picked up the two sticks and began once more.
