tbh, i think this iteration of tumblr-victoria might have to include the horny unhinged aspects i've withheld in the past.

Actually my take is that while 2016 was a horrible bad faith reboot filled with questionable ideas and questionable characterizations for every character
I don’t mind the design changes to Bubbles and Buttercup, the extra hair accessories that is. I even think they’re cute. Maybe Buttercups extra hair tuft is like- ever so slightly annoying since her hair already is pretty shapely and cool. Butttt… not a big deal to me in the long run.
The thin lined art style is beyond yucky though, where are my scrumptious bold lines!
JAK AND DAXTER REBOOT PITCH# 3
For a reboot, I'd go back to TPL and lean into the fantasy genre more. I'd have it be a quest where Jak is traveling to prove himself to Damas and Spargus. He ends up meeting Daxter and Keira along the way and they team up.
My pitch involved reimagining the Haven era characters and places for TPL's era.
There will be more darker themes and it would still be a coming of age story. It's just gonna be a different journey from the original games.
Reboots should be similar but different in my view.
Having Jak, Daxter, and Keira team up allows a flip on their original dynamic. Each of them has their own goals and gimmic. Jak is a swordmaster, Daxter is a stealthy trickster while Keira is a gadget girl.
Praxis is reimagined as the Marauder leader. He and Damas have an epic rivalry because of family baggage. Praxis's family were allies to Mar but had a falling out. So Ashelin is more of a rival to Jak in the beginning.
This condenses my previous reboot pitches into a more focused form.
Most of the previous games would pop in, but there would be a ton of new content to explore.
Instead of third person shooter mechanics, there will be hack and slash mechanics instead...;).
JAK IN THE PAST AU-
What would Sig and the others be like if they lived back in the Precursors legacy?
You could still do Spargus, the Brink and Kras City in sandover's time. They just be more low tech and kid friendly. Although Jak growing up might've been inevitable. So you'd introduce more mature themes along the way.
For example, Spargus and Haven are two warring cities in the wasteland that Jak has to navigate between. Praxis runs the Marauders while Damas runs Spargus.
The Brink is a place Jak visits in order to find his uncle who went missing. He gets wrapped up in Phoniex's revolution against Duke Skyheed.
Veger is a charismatic preacher who works for a rogue Precursor who wants to enslave elfkind for the greater good.
Rayn hires Jak to compete in the combat racing championship. He agrees because he wants to take down Mizo but doesn't realize Rayn is just as bad till the last act.
The metal heads could just be invading aliens. They come through the rift and Jak has to stop them. Instead of time travel, you could have them be from another dimension
You could still do the Dark Jak mode but it would be more of a curse Jak is inflicted with. Sorta like the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed. Maybe thats tied to Gol and Maia's return? It doesn't have to be but it could be.
The Damas plot twist is still doable but you'd have to set up why AU Jak left Spargus in the first place. Does he know who his birth parents are?
Time Travel is an option but I'd avoid it. It's more of a way to introduce the GTA angle so it's not a necessity. But I could change my mind.
Taryn is a kid detective who recruits Jak to solve a mystery. She's mysterious and more cerebral so Jak is flustered by her.
Erol is a spoiled rich kid who wants to make a name for himself. He's a recurring rival trying to overshadow Jak's reputation.
Jak is meant to be more of a player surrogate in TPL. So there's alot of freedom in where you could take him in a TPL AU.
Jak probably fights with a staff as a reference to Lost Frontier. But a hammer, nun-chucks, bow and arrow, a sword and shield and other weapons are fair game. I'm more into hack and slash than 3rd person shooters so it's a preference.
I wanted to use the sword design the guy in the middle has.
This AU is more fantasy than sci-fi but it's there. ;)
I feel like I wrote a Crisis Core-esque arc. This Jak is more like Zack Fair- an idealist struggling to make his ideals a reality.
Here are some options for Maia to be included in future games.
A) she leads the marauders as a cult leader. They are nihilistic and serve her because of her powers. You could tie in the Dark Makers somehow.
B) she's an advisor for Duke Skyheed and probably worked on his version if the Dark Warrior Program.
C) she took Onin's place in Renegade and is an ally of the Underground. Pecker is more if her errand boy/sidekick etc.
In the Precursor Legacy pitch document she's supposed to be able to see the future. So that's something they should explore. She achieved any of the options through using that ability.
Option C is her turning over a new leaf in between the games.
Rewriting DmC is tough.
It would've been better for DmC if they pitched it as a canon entry than a reboot. Letting it be another sidestory/prequel etc.
Before DMC5, DMC stories was pretty disconnected from each other. There are recurring elements but the stories were self-contained.
So it could've been another case Dante took offscreen. Most of the games take place years apart so I assumed he did other cases. DMC3 is set 10 years before DMC1. So just put them there.
Option 1-
I would do a storyline set between two time periods of Dante's life. One where he's 17 and the other were he's 27. 1 actor should play both roles and both periods are set in Limbo City.
The two time periods are a way to play both Dantes off each other and a way to make it more convincing for skeptical players.
Option 2-
Dante grew up with dissociative identity disorder.
Tony Redgrave would be one of Dante's 4 "alters" or alternate personalities. Some new gameplay mechanics and puzzles will focus on them. In gameplay they would take the place of the "Styles" Dante can use.
Option 3-
Dante gets split into two halves, one representing his human self and another representing his demon half.
He doesn't know how and has to adjust to the changes. Both halves don't get along and seperate till they figure out how to reconnect.
Tom Holland joked about doing a live action Jak and Daxter movie. I'd probably watch it even if it's terrible. Atleast it will give Sony a reason to do some more Jak content.
I liked Jak 2 more than the 1st game so I'd lean into that more. I'd probably want a Witcher style tv show. But a Star Wars like movie would be perfect.
Atleast the scrapped Jak 4 concept art would get some use.
My Ideal Jak and Daxter reboot pitch
My ideal Jak and Daxter reboot is based on this mod for KH2FM.
Step aside Sora, let the demolition duo show you how it's done.
I was more of a hack and slash teen than a 3rd person shooter. So I don't mind swapping play styles. I'm fine with keeping the platformer but just add some hack and slash flair.
To deal with gun wielding enemies, Jak could just parry with his sword.
Here a reference point for each game's tone.
