Sketch portrait for Virva Valkea
Of course I’d play an undead emo elf
Let´s talk about reborn elves. Tolkien/Mandos reborned a few elves, returning them to life with an adult body. But some artists and writers like to make other characters (like Maedhros) reborn as babies.
What if Mandos gives the elves two options: return to life with the same -scarred- body they died with, or reborn with a new body? (to make things easier, let´s say the new body is identical to the first) Some elves wouldn´t have the two options, tho. Let me explain myself.
Many elves would like to be reborn without all those ugly scars, but that would mean a second childhood in Valinor. Some elves don´t have time to waste playing and learning again everything they already knew. Some, like Glorfindel, prefer to go back to ME to fight, and don´t care if they have a few scars.
Others can´t choose their old body. Some, like Fingon or Finrod, whose bodies were broken, ripped, must be reborn as babies. They have no scarred bodies to return to, but a bloody amount of flesh.
I think Maedhros would choose his scarred body (let´s forget the lava, let´s say Mandos thinks it´s a good extra punishment and gives him the choice to reborn one-handed and horribly scarred) But as I said, Fingon had to be a baby again (he would choose to be reborn only once Maedhros is also able too) Yes, they wouldn´t split, but Fingon´s childhood would be boring for him, and awful for Maedhros. Poor Mae has to take care of a little kid who wants to have sex with him :”)
