are you a fan of stories where the protagonist is just too selfless for their own good? what about an element-based magic system that was secretly designed to destroy the world under the right conditions? maybe even throw in some queer enemies-to-lovers? oh, but i haven't even mentioned the supporting cast yet! we have an angsty furry, gender non-conforming representation, lots of characters confirmed queer by the author, and even a quirky neurodivergent character! if you like the idea of a ragtag group of superheroes coming together to save the world in a fantasy setting, you'll love this!

oh my god i was actually right about #122 being sharknado this is the best day of my life everyone go watch sharknado (especially 1-3) right now it's so dumb but in the best way

As someone who has also seen Sharknado, I second that: they're absolute crack and it's so fun. F and I watched all 6 of them together and it was the most fun either of us had had in years. And as for the drag queen representation, according to F:

"I forgave the Sharknado movies for everything they did to me the moment I saw Alaska Thunderfuck as Morgana and you can quote me on that"

Everyone should watch them. Effective immediately.

Might just be due to my current brainrot (very close to finishing it myself), but I want to guess that rec 122 is the video game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Don't want to explain the rest of my thought process to avoid accidental spoilers, but even the detail "the most exciting film series this side of King Kong" could fit into this guess if you twist it a little... One of the protagonists is a movie buff who likes various fictional disaster movies, including one that's supposedly a reference to Godzilla – which in turn has a certain connection to King Kong. Besides, I'm pretty sure that the 13 character routes take roughly 1h30m each, so they would definitely be a series of film length stories (even if their events are not entirely separate).

was discussing what the heck celebrity cameos could mean in a movie series (aren't ... aren't characters often PLAYED by celebrities?) and my partner suggested that rec 122 may in fact be Avengers / Marvel Cinematic Universe. hit me like a truck i think he might be right about that one
