Blog 13 the recap
Man this semester has been crazy but what I did experience was fun. I came into the class very late and got accepted into the SPIFF, a great and welcoming group. The classes we had while we got the chance to meet were honestly very fun. I got to make some good friends and experience a great class. I just wish it didn’t get cut off so early. I never thought I’d say it but I do miss school haha. So lets start with the beginning. I came in late to the class as I said in the beginning and Irene let me be interviewed for the class. It was definitely a different introduction experience than most classes I’ve had. I got lucky to be invited to the awesome group SPIFF. I got to meet cool and interesting people in the group. Everyone was sort of their own personality and I felt it made us work well together. No one was the same personality. From Jager’s cruel and amusing humor to Jenny’s energetic and artistic personality, it was a great group of people to be paired up with. Then in the coming classes we were learning about the struggles of Asian Americans. Then we got introduced to my favorite assignment, the iron chef project. It’s where I felt the class got really interesting and fun. It was my favorite part. We got to learn and hear from a Taiwanese perspective of how it was to grow up Taiwanese in America and the culture behind it. Also doing research on the culture and learning a lot about how it came to be and what exactly happened to Taiwan in its crazy history. Then came my favorite part and one of my favorite moments of the class. Getting to go out as a group together and eat Taiwanese food.
This day was honestly fun. I got to talk to a lot of my fellow classmates and got to know a few things about them while also enjoying a pretty tasty meal. We all ate well that night. I wish we could’ve hung out more through the semester. After this great day we got to present. We all met up and practiced a bit then went to class. We were all pretty nervous for it. After seeing Jager’s amazing performance I think we all gained some confidence. Then after that the craziness basically started. It was exciting and fun being in the AAS218 class. I’m glad I got to join in when I did. It’s near the end of the semester and we won’t get to say goodbye but it’s okay. Hopefully we run into each other randomly fellow SPIFF members and we get to say hi.
