While being optimistic is valued in this world we live in, the rise of people starting cults this year alone is a little questionable. More than a little. Wildly questionable. Within two weeks people were already carving their skins and sacrificing animals on tiktok allegedly not even a full month ago But I log onto tumblr today and someone's trying to unironically start a cult based on an older religion in an attempt of enlightening the world and kindness Which isn't an unheard of concept, some of the most notorious cults start with good intentions more often than blatantly malicious with the lesser problematic ones going under the radar But I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before I see this on the news or on some obscure internet video about internet cults, especially since most of the followers on the cults I randomly see on my fyp are from younger teenagers. tl;dr
