Watermelon bikini top
My last week of work coincided with my sister's birthday, so between making and icing cupcakes I crocheted her a bikini top.
This was as a joke when I first started knitting. I got this pattern in a book my Mum brought me and I joked I'd make it for my sister. I never did.
She still hadn't given me any ideas on what to get her so I threatened to finally knit that bikini for her. To my surprise she said sure and we had a quick minute peruse of possible styles. (Turns out TikTok and lockdown has made it a thing and cool)
When I got home I found a free pattern (which I edited because that seems to be what I do) and git to work with the colours I had lying around. So, knowing my sister was a similar size to me in that area I used myself as a guide and this is what I produced.
The cord at the back is a type of finger knitting my Grandma taught me at age 12ish to make friendship bracelets. It doesn't match any method I can find online.
It's turned out better than I planned, though is was a little too big to men to wear. Thankfully my younger sister is taller so it meant it fits her and she loves it. My husband said I should make one for myself (and then said I should make it Thunderbirds related 😮) so we'll see where I go with that idea.
