Passion that is Driven (Chapter 2: Take Your Time)
"WOOOOOAH!!!"
The Reckless Flyer laughed as she soared through the skies, passing by other people in their boats as the manta kept pace below the girl, while she just barely managed to avoid bumping into one of the boats.
"If only I could be allowed to go outside every once in a while, at least then I wouldn't always be stuck in the Vault."
Pausing, she glanced down at the manta.
"Isn't that right, boy?"
In response, the manta honked, making the flyer grin beneath her mask as they raced over the desert.
Once they reached the city, Binah landed back onto the manta as they made their descent towards the entrance.
"Gee, I'm gonna miss flying, especially with you." Binah mumbled, gently patting the creature's head.
After landing, the girl walked with her bag in tow — after a brief check in with the guards.
The city was huge; people walking around the streets, with some playing a game of checkers, others racing each other through the streets and on the giant pipelines.
While others were lined up just outside of the Sanctuary, their arms littered with darkstone, the result of overexposure to darkstone technology draining their light.
The flyer couldn't bare looking at the unfortunate, opting to shoot looks at the manta — who was now flying above — as she felt an unexpected increase of her pulse. She gripped her bag tighter, walking a little faster as she made her way towards the end of the marketplace.
Binah paused though, looking up at the manta for a long moment...
"C'mere boy." The girl called the manta, who descended to hover closer to her.
Binah sighed, pressing her forehead against the manta's head, her hands gently cradling it.
"Look, just... fly off, alright? Not back to the Valley, but just — just make sure you're flying where you can hear my call, alright?" Binah said, her voice firm as she made eye contact with the creature of light.
The manta made a quiet sound, making Binah's shoulders slump as she hugged the creature one last time, before watching as they took off into the skies.
With a deep breath, the girl finally walked inside, making her way into the Vault of Knowledge.
She didn't know what she was expecting.
The Vault was bustling with activity; scholars and acolytes' alike walking around, doing their own tasks, or assisting with shelving the memory lanterns.
The flyer sighed as she walked past some of them, clutching her bag as she looked around.
"Oh? You seem lost."
The girl whipped her head around to see who that voiced belonged to, only to be met with the gaze of an acolyte with a blue cape.
Scoffing, the girl hugged her bag to her chest, staring at the acolyte.
"Well, yea, this is my first time here." she retorted, though not without calming herself down.
The acolyte hummed, before nodding their head. "Ah, now I remember, we are expecting a new student today; you must be them, aren't you." The acolyte murmured, as the flyer could only sigh.
"Yes, that would be me." she mumbled, her eyes furrowed.
Hearing that, the acolyte smiled beneath their mask. "Very well then, I will show you your quarters here, then after a week of accommodating yourself to your environment, you will begin your studies." they explained, observing the flyer as she squirmed where she stood.
"Alright... at least I don't jump into studying right away." Binah muttered to herself, following the acolyte to her quarters, where she placed her bag down and decided to explore the halls of the Vault — without bothering the others.
Hey, she may be reckless, but she knows how to show some decency.
Passion that is Driven (Chapter 1: A Leap of Fate)
The Reckless Flyer grumbled as she packed her things, muttering nonsense beneath her breath as she stuffed in the last pair of clothes she had. "I can't believe this..." she mumbled, her eyes narrow as she grabbed her bag and walked out of her room.
Outside, her father stood on the snowy ground as he stared at the manta, the creature's large wings flapping leisurely as the two waited for his daughter.
"I'm here, I'm here." The flyer sighed as she came out of the house.
Her father smiled, opening his arms for a hug. "There's my girl; you have your stuff?" he laughed as his daughter huffed, nodding quickly as she called for the manta.
The creature flew down to float beside the pair, only grumbling when she threw her bag onto their back.
Hopping onto the manta's back, the flyer frowned. "I don't get it, dad, why do I need to go for studies? And why the Vault of all places?" she grumbled, not meeting the old man's gaze.
"It's for the better, Binah, you need to learn more about our world; staying here won't do it." Her father explained, a small sigh escaping him.
"But I love The Citadel — it's my home, where my friends and family are! Why study when I can fly and live out the rest of my days here? Where I belong." The flyer, now Binah, countered the man, her eyes glowed brighter behind her mask as she gestured to their surroundings, before staring him straight in the eye.
Her father smiled, his eyes softening as he patted the girl's head.
"Binah, if you really didn't want to go, you would've been flying somewhere else in the Valley by now, no? Not here, with your stuff packed up, and a frown apparent in your voice." he said, laughing as his girl pulled away abruptly after, before quickly taking off with the manta, the creature flying off into the skies.
"And remember, tell him to fly off when you get there!
"Binah let out a long sigh, rolling her eyes as her father's words he managed to shout from behind.
"That's... weird." she mumbled to herself.
Her father yelling that was odd enough, but what made it even more off was the words itself.
"And remember, tell him to fly off when you get there!"
'Fly off? Didn't he mean to fly back?'
Binah tried to think of any reason for him to say that, any clue on why those were his words. But, in the end, the flyer could only shrug it off as she held onto the manta.
"Oh well..." She hummed as she looked down at the manta, her frown slowly easing into a smile beneath her mask.
Once they were far from The Citadel and closer to the Coliseum, the manta shook their head with a sound.
Hearing that, Binah thought for a moment what that could mean, before suddenly understanding their intentions.
With a smirk beneath her mask, she took a leap of faith, whooping as she flew above the manta, flapping her cape as she flew through the sky with the creature of light flying below her with her bag.
And so, the Reckless Flyer raced to the Golden Wasteland; beyond the barren wastes, where the Vault of Knowledge awaits.
Currently trying to make a reference sheet from imagination (the posing/anatomy I mean) 🥲😭

Passion that is Driven (Chapter 3: Tales of the Imagination)
It was... boring.
The Reckless Flyer felt antsy just gliding through the halls of the Vault, the shelves filled with memory lanterns left and right; the only place where there weren't memory lanterns was the library, and it only had books!
The girl almost regretted going here.
As she walked past a few scholars on her way to the Vault's elevator, she heard a voice calling out to her.
Immediately, she looked up, meeting the gaze of someone who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to startle you, child." they apologized, bowing their head as they did so.
The flyer sighed as she shook her head. "It's fine — but why were you calling me?"
They hummed, their eyes gentle as they watched the girl. "Well, I can tell you're a little bored, to say the least; how about I show you something?"
Hearing their offer, the flyer huffed, her eyes narrowing as she stared at the person. "Show me, what? More of these memory lanterns? I've seen more than enough of them in only 2 days!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms up into the air before she caught herself, letting out a long sigh.
"Hm, well, not exactly." they said, before ushering the flyer right outside the Vault entrance.
Tilting her head to the side like a manatee, the flyer followed the person. Once she stood with them, her eyes widened as she saw a hole in the left wall she hadn't took notice of before.
"Wha..." she trailed off as she stared at the entrance to, well, somewhere, hidden in plain sight.
The corners of their eyes crinkled, ushering the flyer further as they walked in. "Come on, child, this way." they murmured.
Still in awe and confused, Binah stared at the person, then at the hole that served as an entrance...
Before she slowly followed suit, walking into the tunnel to a new place within the Vault.
"Woah..."
The tunnel led to a hall, but the floor in the center was practically non-existent, with only the one floating platform remaining intact.
They smiled at her reaction, moving to stand before her.
"What is your name, child?" they inquired.
"Binah." she murmured.
They nodded at that, a smile evident in their voice despite their mask. "A pretty name indeed."
They then extended their arms, gesturing to their surroundings.
"Binah, it is an honor to welcome you to this sacred part of the Vault of Knowledge; I am Shalita, the Rueful Storykeeper, and I welcome you to the Hall of Stories."
Binah was wide-eyed, her gaze glowing even brighter as she gasped.
"This is the Hall of Stories?..." she whispered, gazing at the person — who the flyer can now call a storykeeper— as she was practically jumping on her tippy toes.
The storykeeper smiled beneath their mask. "You've heard about this place before?" they asked, observing the girl as she slowly walked towards one of the stories.
Binah hummed, her eyes soft as she stared at one of the stories. "You could say that..." she murmured, standing before the story of The Little Prince.
"Isn't this the story that takes place in the Starlight Desert?" Binah asked, whipping her head around to look at the storykeeper.
Seeing them nod at her question, her eyes lit up once again.
"Can I go in? Please please please please pleaseeeee?" The flyer practically begged, pleading with the storykeeper who laughed gently at her puppy eyes.
"Go on, my child; I shall be waiting for you here."
With that, Binah knelt upon the meditation circle, closing her eyes as her body felt lighter, and her mind felt at ease, as she was taken to the Starlight Desert.
Passion that is Driven (Chapter 4: Rose Gardens and a Starry Sky)
Binah slowly opened her eyes, finding herself in a dark tunnel again, her eyes slowly adjusting as she got up to her feet.
As she began walking into the direction of the light, the sight slowly became clearer the closer she got; revealing a purple, starry oasis at the end.
"No way..." she breathed out as she walked out of the tunnel, wide-eyed as she took in the sight, her shoulders slumped as she halted in her steps.
It was beautiful.
The night sky was twinkling with the stars hanging up there, the sand felt cool beneath her feet, and the scent of roses was detectable even from afar.
"Is that the rose garden? And the gazebo—" Binah couldn't finish her own words before she felt her jaw drop beneath her mask, her eyes landing on the sight of a manta flying above the desert.
Except this one was... transparent? No, translucent, and starry...
"What is that doing here?" Binah pondered as she stared at the creature.
She attempted to call the creature, but her calls were ignored, making a soft 'huh?' escaped the girl as she scratched the back of her head.
'Weird, my manta usually answers my call...'
Binah eventually let it go, opting to fly towards the rose garden in the distance as she passed by The Little Prince's rose on the way.
"This is amazing!!!"
Binah laughed as she flew through the rose garden, landing to touch some of the roses in the bushes as she kept looking around. She then sprinted to the gazebo, gazing at the shape of the place that was decorated with vines of roses.
Binah spent her time exploring the Starlight Desert — after all, who wouldn't want to know their way around the place of their dreams?
Binah sighed as she slowly opened her eyes, seeing the historian looking down at the flyer with a gentle look in their eyes.
"Ah, I see you've returned from your adventure." they said, a smile evident in their voice as she stood up from the meditation circle.
"Well, I had fun! Thanks for showing me this place, Shalita." Binah said, bowing her head for a second, before she lifted it again.
The storykeeper smiled, returning the gesture before watching as the flyer entered the tunnel once more, going back to the Vault after exploring the place of her dreams.
