Sleep did not come easily to a woman who was about to lose her sons and brother for however many months at a time. Instead, Dis paced the length of her home, gnawing anxiously on her thumbnail, trying not to let the thoughts become too prominent.
Why had she let them do it?
Yet, upon seeing a figure in the doorway, the Dwarven woman tried to force a smile, although it did not quite reach her eyes.
"Ready for tomorrow?"
Gwilwileth walked down the darkened path, the yelling and laughing of dwarves quieting down. Why Lord Elrond allowed those brutes to stay was beyond his comprehension, but there was nothing he could do. So instead he simply decided to isolate himself until the guests would be gone.
Sitting down on a ledge that had wonderful view to the Valley, the elf took his harp and started to play, believing the Moon to be his only audience.

Journey
Fili wasn't sure about this, Kili had never left the blue hills, in fact for that matter neither had Fili. He new they should go help reclaim what had been lost to them, what was rightfully theirs, but Fili was unsure on whether or not Kili should come along. He was a rather young dwarf, and his brother was inexperienced, reckless, not to mention hot headed. Also he and uncle did not always see eye to eye.. and Kili had a bad habit of talking back, to the man who had come to be like their father.
Fili twirled the bead in his braids, with his fingers looking at his eager little brother from under bushy eyebrows. " I don't know Kee, mother doesn't think you're ready and I am inclined to agree, this trip is going to be dangerous we have no idea what could happen."

- - Thorin sighed lightly, and shook his head, "you are too eager to battle, Kili. War is no place of joy or fun, nor is battle." He scolded, crossing his arms, speaking in a serious tone, "if you are to train with me, you need to understand this. Battles are not fought to make a name, wars are not started as play among children with wooden axes.
It is cold, it is lonely, and unforgiving. One day, you may fight, and in that day, you may be stained with the blood of your kin. The blood of brothers does not wash off so easily."

- - Thorin's face portrayed no manner of joking. He was almost tempted to punch back, had it been any other dwarf, he truly might have. But he was no fool, he would never intentionally hurt his nephews like that. His voice was not loud, it was quiet, and it dug like a knife. Had he done littler things, perhaps Thorin would have raised his voice, but not now. Now he was gentle, a fierce, scary gentle, like being in the jaws of a lion. "Get out of my sight."
