Shifting cultivation has shaped the landscape of northern Laos over the last decades, leaving behind vast areas of secondary forests. Bamboo, often dominating these forests, offers new opportunities for income generation for communities. Teak plantation established over the last 30 years, may offer innovative opportunities for smallholders to access micro finance.
