Do you have any resources on how to deal with shame? Mainly when it comes to conversion. I'm a half-jew (father's side) who has started welcoming judaism into his life. I'm transgender and want to convert reform, which isn't an easy mix: Towards Judaism, I feel a lot of shame for being trans, shame for "not converting the right way", and on the flipside, shame towards my lgbt+ peers because I'm "suddenly" religious. The thought of Conversion makes me very happy, but the shame is in the way.
Mod here. I would like to remind respondents that we don’t bash other Jewish communities on this blog--don’t do so in your response. On that note, respondents might want to think twice about whether they have something helpful to contribute if they are neither coming from a Reform FOR nor share some aspect of anon’s experience.
Much thanks! (Todah rabah!) !תּוֹדָה רַבָּה
