While at work today I had an older gentleman approach my til. He began unloading his cart and then handed me one of our employee’s business cards stating that that employee had been really helpful today. While ringing through his purchases I told him that I would pass along the message to management for him. I finished ringing his purchase through, he paid and then headed on his way. Shortly after I went over to my manager and informed her of the message the gentleman had told me so that it could be passed along to the proper employee. Today’s random act of kindness: relaying appreciative comments.

While at work I had a customer come up to my register along with someone from the floor as they were getting approval to override a price. After giving me the new price the staff member left to go on her lunch. After the transaction the customer expressed to me how she wanted to say thank you to the staff member for her help. I told her that I would pass on the message. When the staff member came back from her lunch I managed to catch her and reiterated the customer’s thanks from earlier. She was pleased to hear the comment, and I hope it helped make her day just a little bit better in hearing her work was appreciated. Today’s random act of kindness: relaying appreciative comments.

Today at work I had a customer come through my til and while talking with her during checkout she had mentioned that she was very pleased with the customer service she had received from a lady on the floor. At hearing this I asked her if she happened to know the girl’s name, she didn’t, and I couldn’t quite identify who it was from the description she gave, but all the same I thanked her for her comments. I also encouraged her to stop by the customer service desk on her way out, I explained to her that there we keep comment cards that can be filled out in recognition of staff members. It was busy at the time, so I quickly got distracted after she had left my til but I am hoping that the customer took advantage of the option. To finish off the first week of the new year, today’s random act of kindness: encouraging the recognition of the hard work of others.
Simple, yet a positive comment could make a difference in a workers day or even to their feelings towards their work in general. I really hope that my co-worker hears that she made a customer’s day and that hearing so makes hers in return.
Venturing on to week #2! Guess we will have to see what is to come.
