If it weren’t for the genius invention of the radio, the availability of entertainment would be unimaginable. From the late nineteenth century to present day, radio has served as the major media outlet for entertainment and news. During the roaring 20’s it was the only means of communication and proved to be the principal tool invented at the time. Jazz and other forms of music were first heard on the radio. In the 80’s the music video star killed it, and today, 2011, radio just got a new makeover. Radio has now become the tool in which the mass audience can hear, see and read about the presented artist/band. Making this comeback possible is a new “kid in town” named Web 2.0. Web 2.0 uses the web as its mass platform to communicate and share information with the radio. Think Yahoo Music Launch, an interactive navigating tool that builds on the interaction between user and computer. Nowadays, you can listen to your favorite artist band/on an internet radio station, send their ringtone to your cell phone, buy their tracks or album, and link to their website all in one click! This series aims to discuss the new opportunities and endless benefits that an artist or band can receive in this digital paradigm using the web 2.0 concept.
