THE BASH BROTHERS LIVE!!

Not only did Aaron Judge hit his 52nd home run and his 111th RBI of the year, but he went back to back with Giancarlo Stanton, who hit his second home run of the game and his 23rd home run and his 63rd RBI of the year and it all happened in the bottom of the 3rd inning!! Aaron hit a sceaming line drive that stayed in the air for 4.6 seconds and traveled 423 feet. Big G hit a monster of a shot that went 451 feet!! That's incredible. Right after Aaron Judge hit that homer, Michael Kay said no one hits a ball like that except for Giancarlo, and then Giancarlo did just that and hit a ball even harder and farther away than Aaron did!!! I love these two!! They should always put them in one right after the other in the lineup because this shit is exciting!! They do it all the time!! Aaron just hit his 50th all time home run against the Orioles. Giancarlo just tied the Yaz for 40th place in career home runs by a Yankee with his 452nd homer that went all the way into Monument Park!! They both did this facing Trevor Rogers, who only has given up one home run all year. He just gave up three so far in this game to make that 4 homers he's given up this year.

The Bash Brothers are on a roll. This is the 58th time that they've hit homers in the same game. The only other Yankees to beat that incredible record are Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who did it 75 times. These guys are phenomenal!! I love the Bash Brothers!!

Florida sets another record number of coronavirus cases in one day

It's reported 9,585 new cases, taking the state total to over 130,000.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his plan to reopen the state, he mocked the “doom and gloom” media and critics who faulted him for Florida’s slow response to the unfolding crisis: “A lot has been done to promote fear. We haven’t seen an explosion of new cases.” Trump himself personally praised DeSantis for doing a “spectacular job in Florida.”

On June 3, 2020, DeSantis ordered 64 of the state’s 67 counties into “Phase 2” of his reopening plan. Almost all businesses would be permitted to operate at reduced capacity, including restaurants, retail shops, bars, movie theaters, bowling alleys, theme parks, and betting facilities.

Three weeks later, on June 24, Florida reported a record 5,508 new COVID-19 cases.

Two after that, Florida reported a record 8,942 new COVID-19 cases.

The next day, Florida reported a record 9,585 new COVID-19 cases.

Da Vinci Painting Demolishes Auction Records; Scholars Still Dubious 

An oil on canvas composition, Salvator Mundi, sold on Wednesday, 15 November 2017, for a whopping $450.3 million at a Christie’s postwar and contemporary art auction in New York. The painting, attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, has now achieved the rarified status of the most expensive work of all time, totaling $150 million more than the last record-setting sale of Willem de Kooning’s Interchange (1955) in 2015. 

The rarity of Leonardo’s paintings added to the momentum of Christie’s marketing for the sale, however many scholars harbor serious doubts as to the authenticity of the work. Documents suggest that da Vinci did indeed conjure a composition of the subject near the beginning of the sixteenth century that turned up in the collection of English King Charles I; since then, the work’s location became relatively untraceable. 

This particular painting of Salvator Mundi reappeared at a Sotheby's auction in 1958 labeled as a work by Boltraffio, and sold for a meager $72 (£45). When it appeared once again at a 2005 estate sale, it was still considered a copy of this lost Leonardo work. From that point, however, that the narrative surrounding the work began to change. The damage accrued to the painting and its supporting panel encouraged substantial restoration and research, during which the case was built to connect this work to da Vinci’s hand. This reattribution to Leonardo was announced in 2011, and in 2013, it sold for roughly $80 million. Shortly thereafter the painting sold once again, this time for $127.5 million to a Russian billionaire, who instigated this most recent sale. 

The problem, however, is that the authenticity of this work is still debated. While market experts praise the sale as a new landmark, scholars note the problematic aspects of compositional distinctions and issues of conservation that potentially complicate a connection to da Vinci. As The New York Times quotes Leonardo specialist Jacques Franck: 

“The composition doesn’t come from Leonardo. . . .He preferred twisted movement. It’s a good studio work with a little Leonardo at best, and it’s very damaged.”

The purchaser of the work remained anonymous and has a five year warranty on this statement of authenticity as outlined in Christie’s standard terms of sale.
