BSM/CW 1 — Broadcast Keys prev || next
RECORDED BROADCAST - 148█.███ Chasing Wind, Big Sis Moon CW: Ah! You've changed your broadcast key! BSM: Indeed I have! You've been the first to notice. CW: Of course I was; nothing escapes my attention! CW: It is quite the fitting name for you, I must say. BSM: Thank you! I had hoped so. CW: Of course. CW: And it's all the more fitting now that you have a young iterator stuck to you by the hip, so to speak — and your official sibling iterator. CW: All points to a strong likelihood that you two will have one of the strongest bonds! You've always been a great guardian figure. BSM: Well now you're peppering me with compliments. Where's the bite? CW: Are my patterns really that predictable? BSM: I've been talking to you since you were built, Grey Wind; I've so much data proving this pattern that extrapolation becomes a given. BSM: I suppose that's one thing that escapes your attention, hm? ~ CW: Alright, then; you asked for it! CW: Why hadn't you changed your broadcast key when I was built, Moon? ~ BSM: Ah, but that is a valid question. BSM: To be fair, I only found out that it was possible to change a broadcast key after having to help Five Pebbles fix his own. BSM: They managed to completely and utterly butcher his name... somehow. CW: Oh, how welcoming. BSM: I know, right? It's rather disheartening, all the animosity towards him already. CW: Yeah; after all, they were once your charges. I can't imagine it's easy to just brush that off as a temporary fear of change. BSM: Well, in all technicality, they still are... BSM: Anyways, where did we leave off last time? CW: Ah; representation of karmic progression through the use of the harmonic series. ...
y’all this is just a handful of the bootleg DVDs my mom recorded back around ‘06 thru ‘09. That woman was dedicated to her bootlegs. She literally said today when I mentioned it, “I loved recording those. I recorded everything. Once I just recorded the Grinch SONG just to have it by itself.” Like full on pride. As she should be tbh she was ahead of the game.
Lost media wiki saying “possible no one recorded them” several times like, don’t underestimate my mother’s dedication to this hobby she had!
baby VS. noob VS. pro VS. hacker VS. god
i think a lot about the placement of the lights in each of the brother's huts a lot. it feels very purposeful.
i've always seen it as a sort of representation of their outlook on their life passions. mato sits directly in the light, someone who eagerly inherits and wishes to pass the teachings of the nail arts. sheo stands outside of it, exploring something else - someone who wishes to find something new to dedicate his life towards, and who didn't see that in the path laid out for him. oro sits idly outside of it without doing much else, as he does not seem to see himself as "proven" as a nail master, or perhaps just simply feels dissatisfied with it from his struggles and stubbornness with the practice.
i hesitate to say that this is specifically about the nail arts, for the simple fact that sheo's place changes after the nailsmith arrives:
sheo seems to have changed following his arrival. his artistry turns from something he's attempting to something he passes down to another, much in a similar way to mato.
all in all a really neat detail that gives a little more sense to their characters, i think :)
oh oh also while i'm talking nailmasters. the title changes in godhome drive me up a wall. nailmaster sheo -> paintmaster sheo:
a slightly lesser extent but definitely still there, nailmaster oro/mato -> brothers oro & mato:
the godhome titles are what they see themselves as or want to be, beyond their titles as nailmasters... sheo a paintmaster and oro & mato bonded by brothership... it's so so cool. i love these guys!!!
not her name
magdalene on her own is already an incredibly interesting character as compared to most of isaac's other identities - instead of being directly based on an existing biblical figure or stage of decay, magdalene is more closely connected to his mother, the connection that they hold, and isaac's own femininity and happiness as a whole. each part of her character holds a distinct history in isaac's life, including her appearance; a wig gifted to him by his mother, serving as another factor of their connection and the joy it brings isaac.
which then makes it all the more interesting to consider the appearance of tainted magdalene, her "abused" counterpart; the hair is distinctly duller in color and shaved on one side, much unlike what an actual wig would look like. at a first glance this choice in appearance may seem strange, maybe even haphazard, but is in reality a choice that makes complete sense given isaac's experiences and reflects the pain he feels at being stripped of his identity.
on multiple occasions it has been made clear that isaac's baldness comes from isaac's mother shaving his head (1) (2); while the purpose itself is unclear, the effect of it very much is. it strips isaac of his own identity without his input, and the resulting misery is shown clearly through the corruption or "tainting" of the identity that most encapsulates his happiness - magdalene. this act of shaving isaac's head is reflected in her appearance, and while it may be a fake wig in reality, the feminine identity that it holds is very much real to isaac. one part of her hair being gone expresses his feelings in that part of him being stolen, while what remains signifies that it remains something real and true to isaac.
