So, I've taken a short break from writing Streets of Eternoto write something for the recorder workshop I'm supposed to be teaching in the UK next week.  I've called it theCumbria Suite for Recorder Consort,and it's going to be in five short movements.  These are the first two, the fastDance For the First Day of Spring, and the slowSails On Morecambe Bay. 

Cumbria, for those of you who don't know, is one of England's most beautiful regions, containing within its boundaries the fantastic English Lake District, as well as its highest mountain.  It's also known as the cradle of Quakerism, since it's the region George Fox finally found wider acceptance for his new religion.  I myself love the lonely quality of the landscape and the cozy friendliness of the locals.

I'm going to be leaving to go there this very afternoon, actually; although I won't get there until Friday morning.  I'm leaving Florence this afternoon, catching the 7:50 train to Milan, then another train for Paris, then another to London, where I'll spend a very short night before hopping the 5:30am train to Ulverston.

I'm excited to be in the UK again.  It's one of my favorite places to visit.

Anyway, I hope you like the first two movements of the Cumbria Suite, and I'll have more for you in the morning.  I hope I can find a place with internet to post stuff from!
