Just curious what CAD/RMS program your department uses and how everyone likes it. My department is in the RFP process to replacing our dinosaur, IMC, which is at the end of its life cycle and about to be sunsetted by the vendor. Central Square has been my favorite vendor so far. Motorola did not impress me at all. Tyler has nice analytics on the RMS side but their CAD seemed clunky and hard to navigate.
(I’m a management analyst overseeing records (among other things) at a suburban PD)
We use Command CAD which, I believe, is by TriTech. The radio system is straight Motorola. And I like Command CAD, as does most of our dispatch (I can think of an exception, but he complains about everything, lol), but it's being retired too. Considering some of our commands broke from a recent update, so I think that's pretty good evidence that it's time to retire it. *sigh* I got hired just in time to develop muscle memory that I will have to change as soon as I get comfy with it.
I have no idea what we'll replace it with, and I don't think admin's decided what to settle on, but I hope that it ends up being a command line program as well, rather than a GUI one. It's faster to type than click around. We'll find out, though.
For our jurisdiction, dispatch is a separate agency from the police. Which is probably good since we dispatch for fire, sheriffs, and constables as well and this way nobody's feelings get hurt thinking we are being partial to this agency instead of that one... Which means that the records management is managed by the police department, and not dispatch. Records management is through Axon. They do the body cameras, and I think the drones also, so it's all one integrated system. I think the Axon records is a relatively new-ish system, so I think we'll be sticking with that for a while.
