Thunderbolts* HONEST Review
Overall rating: 8/10
I keep expecting good movies whenever I go to the cinema to watch Marvel (big no at this stage, I know), but this time I was pleasantly surprised to not be surprised with a big pile of repetitive and boring dookey.
The Thunderbolts present themselves as a group of very real individuals, they are capable and mighty but they have flaws, which Marvel seemed to be running away from thus far. The crew all have very obvious yet very different flaws and different ways of coping through it, which are highlighted throughout the whole movie - this makes them very relatable which is a first for me, and makes the movie enjoyable because it feels like you're watching real people.
The action scenes are great, I really love them although I wish we had gotten more of it, the first action scene is definitely the best.
As for the comedy, it seems like Marvel found its pacing. There are comedic moments and quirky one-liners but it isn't annoying and the timing with the jokes is very good, it's not just a little ironic comment to cut the tension here and there.
There are very surprising elements, but the villains... Oh I'm obsessed, I actually loved it. I didn't love how they took care of it (more under the cut), but it couldn't be helped.
Bucky isn't the center, he doesn't have as much exposure but when watching the movie it's very clear and understandable why - he's someone who, compared to all other characters, has had TONS of exposure and background, and it makes sense to shine the spotlight on other characters a little more.
Not Marvel's best, but not Marvel's worst, overall a solid movie that I wouldn't mind watching again.
