Right now I’m sitting next to a list with four bullet points

In search of

This time, a job

Next time, a house

After that, just puppies hopefully

Right now, all I can think about

Is the now! the next! the then!

The potion, the cauldron, the book

And where am I

Still in my head probably

Looking for the answers to

Multiplication

Subtraction

Division

Addition

In a goddamned red bind of papers

There is a feeling that floats with you

When you look around

And just see ghosts

Just see hollow trees

They’re all just mirrors again

Or are they

You like my body, my hair

You like my lips

My face, my chest, and my hips

And all I ever cared about

Was you

Just you and how you were

How you are

Are you okay?

Are you sleeping better?

Are you feeling better?

I miss you

I think of that one time

That we were in the lounge

And you were on the floor

You picked up that spider

And said, “These guys got lotsa eyes,”

Right before you went to the bathroom

And passed out

Before you could write down any of the poems

Any of the rhythms, the rhymes

It’s one thing to be excited

And a different thing...

To be not bored

To be not boring

To be noticed

To be the adventure

The breaking stuff

The big laugh

Nose buried in a red bind of papers

There comes a pique where you look at all the mirrors

You look at the people

You try and look at

The ghosts

The hollow trees covered in weeds

The skin on the bone and the sin of your own

The empty ponds

And buried chests

What kind of magic is this?

All I see are the spider-eyes

The windows showing me to me

The eyes that tell me what’s in the now, the next, the then

Before I pass out on the bathroom floor

And forget again
