Motor Brand R&B Decks
I picked these up from the local newsagency when I picked up another deck from the post office and got some art supplies. They weren't an expected buy but I like them

Luck vs RNG
Me, playing Magic: Duels online... Against the AI (for very little reward): *Gets perfect hand first time, follows the mana curve perfectly, all the cards come just as I need them* Against a person (for higher reward): *Land, land, land, enchantment, land, land, 1-drop, land, land.....*

Why are the decks of Russian ships red?
Why are the decks of Russian ships red?
The decks of the Russian ships are painted with a “red lead” rustproofing/anti-corrosive paint. Many nations do this but then topcoat the red lead paint with grey paint for a uniform color. Gray paint is a very effective means to keep a warship from being spotted in a wide variety of situations. However, the Russians just leave the red lead exposed.
Anti-corrosive paint is a composition of…

Why Jaya Ballard is Important to Me!
I was in 7th grade when I first started playing Magic: The Gathering. I was looking for a new game to play and my brother told me that his friend had taught him how to play Magic: The Gathering. I went to the home page and found information on the Tenth Edition Set. I watched videos on how to play and a video about the color pie. That video (very outdated) describe Black and the color of Evil and Red as the color of Chaos. While I now know this is not accurate, I did not at the time. I did know, however, that I liked the villain in many series, such as Lego Bionicle, Transformers, and Star Wars. I also had no idea what the word Chaos meant. To be honest, I thought it was synonymous with evil. Regardless of my misunderstanding of the color pie, I decided that a Black and Red deck would be the most evil deck I could make, and thus I planned to make it that way.
My first purchase was of a ninth edition pack. The local toy store I went to had no tenth edition packs, so I got something that sounded similar. I was hoping to pull a rare black card, but I got the next best thing, a rare red card: Thundermare. My brother and I also bought a Ninth Edition 2-player starter deck. He paid it, so he got to chose which of the two 32 card decks he wanted to keep. He chose Blue-White. I ended up with Red-Green. Between the Thundermare I pulled and the part red deck I got from the starter deck, I decided to give up on black and just build red.
Fast forward a bit, and I have accumulated many red cards, including the Chandra Deck from Duel Decks: Jace vs Chandra (my other brother got the Jace deck). It was also around now that I began to understand that there was a story. I read the planeswalker web comics and read a few Savor the Flavor articles. I even bought the original ravnica block novels. Anyway, because I loved red so much, and because I had a Chandra Nalaar card, I decided to buy and read the Purifying Fire. I loved this book, and Chandra became one of my favorite characters. Also, I also enjoyed Gideon a lot. [Mother Luti was fine, but not super important to me].
Over the years, however, my MTG Play Style shifted many times. Early one, I also fell in loves with Elves, which lead me to Nissa (my favorite planeswalker). When Nissa became the Worldwaker, I decided to try Green. I found I enjoyed Green more than Red. I just liked the idea of progressively bigger and bigger creatures. in a more midrange style, as opposed to a more aggressive red deck. I also began to play pauper. Pauper is still my favorite format, though my deck building is far more casual and simplistic.
Then, Nissa leaves the Gatewatch. My favorite character may not appear again for a year or more. I feel a bit lost. I try numerous other decks, using all colors.
Then today happens. Chandra meets Jaya!! Immediately, due to --SPOILER--, I find myself thinking back to all the red interactions I had. I think about how my casual green midrange deck never quite got there. I think about Chandra. I think about Jaya. And I decide to build a New, Slightly more controlling Midrange, Mono-Red, Casual Pauper deck. It was inspired by the Chandra’s first duels of the Planeswalkers Deck, Hands of Flame. It is incredibly simplistic. I have no idea if it can do anything at all. It runs a full playset of Fire Elemental as a top end. Really, it seems pretty bad. But it looks like fun. And it is my new deck. There is still some tweaking to be done, cards that need to be swapped out for others. And Jaya is now rivaling Nissa for the spot as a my favorite planeswalker. We will see what happens next.
MTG: GR Madness
Magic: The Gathering is a game which at its root has a sort of culture built straight into the game’s mechanics, with five distinct flavours of play execution forming the centerpiece of the game’s style and mechanics. Players introduced to the game will almost always have something to say about how they relate to the colours based on first impressions, and the flavour of the colour pie represents…
