PSA about Salvation Army
Salvation Army red kettles go to the local chapters, not the whole organization.
I have been openly gay and ringing bells for years. Also I know of many LGBT people in my area who have been helped by Salvation Army.
If your local Salvation Army is homophobic/transphobic then don't support them.
It’s absolutely horrible what some of them have done, and they should be held responsible for their actions. But look into your local chapters before deciding not to donate.
How much does the General of the Salvation army make?
The General of The Salvation Army, serving as the international leader, does not receive a traditional salary. Instead, they have a modest allowance for living expenses, including housing and utilities. This approach reflects the organization's commitment to modest living and service.
Own Your Own Future
In the United States, Salvation Army officers receive modest compensation reflecting the organization's commitment to service and modest living. According to data from Glassdoor, the average annual base salary for a Salvation Army officer is approximately $64,000, with total pay ranging from $48,000 to $88,000 per year.
Glassdoor Indeed.com reports a slightly lower average annual salary of around $54,651 for Army Officers at The Salvation Army, which is about 12% above the national average.
The Salvation Army
In contrast, executives at other nonprofit organizations, such as Goodwill Industries International, often receive higher compensation. For example, regional Goodwill CEOs can earn between $300,000 to $500,000 per year, with some earning around $1 million annually.
Own Your Own Future
This significant difference in compensation underscores The Salvation Army's dedication to directing resources toward its charitable missions rather than high executive salaries.
THE SALVATION ARMY RED KETTLE 🛡️ 🪙 🔴 🪣
(I tried to write “The Salvation Army” onto the red shield, but I kept running out of room.)
This is big for me. Pocket change goes a long way and I empty my pockets at every red bucket I see. Let’s fill them up please.
