Salvation Army red kettles go to the local chapters, not the whole organization. 

I have been openly gay and ringing bells for years.  Also I know of many LGBT people in my area who have been helped by Salvation Army. 

If your local Salvation Army is homophobic/transphobic then don't support them.

It’s absolutely horrible what some of them have done, and they should be held responsible for their actions.  But look into your local chapters before deciding not to donate.
