For two weeks before the trip, the office was preparing by emailing invitations to our existing merchants, and also arranging meetings with exciting new stores to expand the availability of Red Maps in Europe.

In the first four cities we had around 10 meetings per day, starting at about 10am and usually ending around 7pm. Sunday was the only day there would be no meetings, but a train from London to Paris. We traveled every other day, arriving in one city late at night, crashing and preparing for meetings the next day. We stayed the next night and got ready to catch a train or plane in the evening. To maximize our time, meetings were organized around neighborhoods, minimizing traveling back-and-forth. Seriously, 8 hours flew by everyday.

The Red Maps merchants are amazing, lovely and helpful.  The new people we met could not have been more gracious. This made the trip all the more special, and worth the grueling commutes.

The beautiful glossy magazine comes out today for the attendees  of the art fair, which runs from December 6th until the 9th. You'll find our map, which highlights the most important places to be and things to see, on page 228.

From December 6 through 9, Miami Beach, Florida, will host the 11th edition of Art Basel, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The editorial staff was amazing to work with. We sought to design a map that fulfilled their needs and are proud of the end product.
