Hate to bother you, but I noticed some of your other designs on Redbubble are gone and I was wondering if you took them down yourself because you felt they've run their course or something else happened.

Yes yes! Thank you for asking this question because I actually wanted to address it!

Due to the recent licensing of Osomatsu-san by Viz media for the English dub, many of my Matsu themed Redbubble pieces received copyright-strikes and were removed from the platform!

There is unfortunately nothing I can do about this--I understand it may be possible to re-upload the pieces under more innocuous names (Things that might not alert the censors) but I’d rather not get in any trouble with RB! As they made it clear in the e-mail notification that they won’t take any action against my account itself provided I don’t try and pull any funny business. 

I would’ve renamed them sooner, but I was in the midst of my Fall Quarter at SCAD and boy was it a busy one! So it just sort of fell by the wayside in a lot of ways.

Thank you so much to everyone who purchased my stuff before they were gone! I suppose it’s only appropriate given the shrinkage of the matsu fandom. I never meant for them to be limited time but I guess they ended up being so! If there’s ever a demand for them again in the future I’ll find a way to put them back out there but for now, I suppose those pieces are just gone!

do you know if you're able to .. get like iphone wallet cases for like 7plus and stuff like that bc i SUPER want a s-s-sweets or osomatsu phone case from you but i really hate like the hard cases, i specifically would love to get a wallet one ;__;

Well, I did some snoopin’ about on Redbubble and it would seem they only offer iphone wallet cases for models 6 and below QoQ (as of OCT 25th 2017)

I wish I could help you out in that regard but I have p-much no influence on what Redbubble stocks, product wise”” I’m sure someday soon they’ll add the option for 7 and up but for now they don’t offer it.

Hello. I'm interested in opening a Redbubble soon but I just have question about how taxes work. If I read correctly, they aren't responsible of giving artist something like a w-2 form, right? And that artists should keep track of all purchases. How do you do your taxes? I just want to make sure that I don't mess up when opening the store. Sorry if this is a weird question cause you get a bunch of nice comments and art question and you see a random ask about taxes.

LOL anon-chan worry not! I don’t mind answering any and all questions if they’re relevant, and somehow or another I’ve become something of a resource on Redbubble related things??? 

UNFORTUNATELY when it comes to the taxes side of Redbubble I’m afraid I’m not actually the best person to ask. That bridges into an aspect of adulthood I’m only just starting to get a handle on, and quite frankly I’m not very good at it nor do I understand it completely myself.””””” At the risk of misinforming you misguiding you I’ll just apologize and say this may be a question for someone close to you who pays taxes themselves--especially since your question is a little broad? I can’t actually tell you how to “do your taxes” that’s like...A personal thing, you know?

The most I can tell you is that Redbubble isn’t going to come to you and say “HEY have you paid your taxes?? We’ll report you to the governments if you don’t!!!!!!!!” They’re a coorporation, they hold no responsibility for your actions legal or otherwise and quite frankly probably don’t care?? They even outright say in most of their e-mails that you as the seller are solely responsible for paying taxes and they cannot be held responsible if you don’t but they do reserve the right to deny you services if you’re mis-using them.

They’ll provide you with all the records and receipts you need but they don’t really ENFORCE it since, once again it’s kind of a personal responsibility as a wage-earning citizen--All that being said if your still a dependant, don’t make a certain amount of money per year, or both you may not have to pay taxes--but once again that’s something I can’t really elaborate on for lack of knowledge.

Hey sorry I'm on mobile and I can't find the ask so what % does redbubble take when people buy your stuff (like let's say a $10 thing for example) also how do you price your artwork?

That’s no prob anon-chan! As for your question…Hm, that’s an interesting one!

So the thing with redbubble it’s not so much that Redbubble takes a certain percent as it is you mark up the price of a product to choose what YOU get paid.

 Using your metaphorical $10 product as an example, Redbubble actually gets ALL of those $10. Part of that goes to manufacturing the item itself, but the rest goes to RB. what YOU get, is the additional percent mark up, which is something you indicate when creating the product. Most things start at a 20% mark up. So to everyone else this product wouldn’t be $10, it’d be $12, and you’d get $2.

You can see a proper example of this concept here where I am viewing one of my products (logged in as the designer) 

The base price of the T-shirt is $20.67 but with a 20% mark-up the total price is $24.80. In this case I get the extra $4 while Redbubble takes the rest.

WHICH OF COURSE, sounds like a pretty bum deal for the artist, but I always always say Redbubble is a convenience tool. Just a nice little source of extra income. You can’t really expect to make a huge profit unless you’re crazy popular.

BECAUSE MY STRAW MAN FRIEND, that would bring the public price up to about 31 BUCKS! Redbubble wouldn’t lose any profits, but I might since no one is gonna cough up 30 bucks for a T-shirt that doesn’t even have a quality guarantee. Especially not when a lot of other shirts on RB are even cheaper that $24. ((Which pretty much answers your second question of pricing, I usually just stick to 20% so I can compete with other products!))

TL;DR In most cases, redbubble takes about 80% of profits if you use the base percentage, but you ultimately choose how much you make. RB always makes the same amount.

I don't know if the dev(s) currently have any rules for that sort of stuff right now, but are you considering putting that Jumino art on your Redbubble?

WOO I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG AGO THIS WAS ASKED BUT IT’S PROBABLY NOT EVEN RELEVANT ANYMORE, LOL.

I’ll just generally say that I don’t plan on ever putting any of my Stardew Valley stuff on my redbubble. Partially because I’ve researched it and found that Chucklefish is indeed taking down any SDV stuff--but also because it is an indie title, and I want people to support the creator as much as possible! Therefore, I’d rather people buy some of the adorable and fun official merch they have available~

Perhaps I’d sell it at small cons or similar places, but for a mass producing website like Redbubble I can’t, in good conscious, put that stuff up!
