Terrasave and the BSAA were set to host an awards banquet on a warm summer evening in July. At first, Jill had thought about declining the invite and then Chris convinced her to come and so with some reluctance, she agreed. She wanted to be there mostly to support him as he was one of the BSAA’s best agents and would very likely receive an award for his many years of service and his unwavering dedication to the cause. Jill herself didn’t want any of the glory but sometimes she just had to accept it. She purchased a mid-thigh black dress to wear that evening and accessorized with a moto jacket and high heels. By the time she’d completed the look and touched up on her make-up, she realized that she felt too exposed without her gun on her. She couldn’t conceal carry it so she had to leave it at home. It was about thirty minutes into the banquet when she decided to excuse herself from conversation with fellow agents to get another drink at the bar. It was there she saw a familiar face—a very bright and beautiful face. Of course Chris wasn't the only Redfield in attendance.
Jill did a double-take of Claire Redfield, her gray eyes landing on the younger woman and it took the bartender several attempts to reclaim her attention (by calling her ‘ma’am’) for the ex-cop to respond. “Yeah, uh, I’ll take scotch on the rocks.” She nodded once when the glass was set down before her. “Thanks.” Almost unconsciously, Jill ran a hand through her short, dark tresses (she’d gone back to her hairstyle from the 90s) as if to tidy her appearance and rubbed her lips together before she caught the eye of her partner’s sister. “Claire,” she greeted warmly. Claire looked... breathtaking. Gorgeous, really. It was hard not to stare and Jill’s social skills hadn’t gotten much better over the years when it came to mingling at fancy events. She would rather be out at the bar shooting some pool with Chris and their friends than be donning a dress that showed her legs a little too much. “I guess you couldn’t ride your bike here in that dress,” she joked. “Which, by the way, looks great on you.” Her eyes never left Claire as the glass of scotch was lifted to Jill’s lips. Maybe she wouldn’t be here just for Chris after all.
