Hey I'd like to say that I find your art amazing! Especially your helmet design and i wondered if I may ask: what kind of paint did you use? Does it stay good on the surface of the helmet or is a fixative needed? Thanks you and have a nice day :)
Well this is the very VERY first time I've ever painted a helmet, so I cannot promise you anything really - I gotta see for myself first!
The first layer was done using classic color pigments (you know as powder) and then used regular beer as binding. It's a bit like tempera-painting but instead of using egg you use beer instead. :D
Then I afterwards I use a regular transparent oil glazing to add depth and change the hues if needed.
I'm basically painting the helmet with very classic mediums.
Once it's finished I will add a varnish over the helmet in order to protect and preserve the painting! Since the helmet is pretty old it will most likely not be worn by a biker, so I think I'll use cellulose varnish.
