May's Trade Off Challenge Has Ended and the Results are In!
This months' challenge made sure you knew the risks before you even started and it was a trade off! Trade something in, get something else, what can go wrong?
Everyone played great, but there can only be one winner and that winner is.....
ELENA DAWSON @elenaxdawson
Remember though, Elena, winning comes with a price. If you want, you can claim the protection of staying in the Mayor's Mansion for the remainder of May, however, doing so requires a sacrifice, you let your own secret come to light and let Red Edge judge you for who you really are. Or, you may forgo protection and choose anyone else in Red Edge to be blasted onto our local news. Should you make that choice, you'll be left to manage the fallout, so choose wisely.
You have 24 hours to message the Mayor’s Office with your decision. If you fail to do so, I will make the choice for you—and I assure you, my decisions are rarely kind.
Brittany ( @brittanyxmillerx), you did amazing, and for who you are and what you do, however, we expected more. Your secret is safe...if Elena decides it is.
Congrats to Elenaand the rest of Hope Island and Brittany and the rest of Wave's End, let's hope you can all do better next month

Trade off Day Challenge - Pirate's Cove District
The challenge amuses Dorian more than it should.
He reads through the options once, slow and unimpressed, the glow from Velour’s lower level catching against the glass in his hand while bass trembles faintly beneath his feet. Somewhere downstairs, people are dancing under lights he chose himself, drinking overpriced liquor to music curated down to the second. Every detail intentional. Every person screened before they ever stepped through the door.
Control is an art form.
And Dorian has always been an artist.
Sacrifice for strength sounds noble in theory, but he’s spent enough years around beautiful liars to know people only romanticize suffering when it’s already over. Strength built through pain is still pain. There’s nothing poetic about it. Just damage dressed up to sound meaningful.
Risk for reward is worse.
That one belongs to amateurs. To people who confuse recklessness with ambition because they’ve never truly had anything worth losing. Dorian built his life on risk once already—fashion houses, private parties, whispered deals hidden behind expensive smiles. He knows exactly what risk looks like when it turns ugly. He’s watched powerful people ruin lives over champagne glasses and signed contracts. He’s seen blood disappear beneath designer cuffs.
And he survived it.
Barely.
His gaze drifts across the club from the mezzanine above, expression unreadable as bodies move below him in waves of shadow and gold light. Velour hums like a living thing around him. Safe. Controlled. Untouchable.
Protect what matters.
Now that feels honest.
Because Dorian knows what it means to build something out of ruin and hold it with both hands afterward. Velour was never just a nightclub. It was exile made elegant. Reinvention wrapped in velvet and low lighting. A fortress disguised as luxury.
People think exclusivity is about status.
It isn’t.
It’s about control over access. Over proximity. Over danger.
And Dorian learned a long time ago that the only way to truly keep something safe is to decide who’s allowed near it in the first place.
The music downstairs shifts into something darker, slower. His jaw tightens almost imperceptibly at the sound, memory flickering briefly behind his eyes—camera flashes, foreign accents, hands stained with money and worse things. The kind of memories that don’t disappear no matter how far you run from them. Europe taught him many things, but the most important lesson was this:
The world only respects power when it’s willing to bare its teeth.
So he did what predators do best.
He adapted.
He disappeared.
And then he built something no one could take from him again.
Velour belongs to him in every sense of the word. The lighting. The music. The silence in the hallways behind closed doors. The privacy. The fear people mistake for respect when they look at him too long. Every inch of it exists because Dorian willed it into existence after the world tried to erase him from its guest list.
And he’ll be damned before he lets anyone threaten it now.
There’s no hesitation in his choice. No soul-searching morality hidden beneath it.
Protect what matters.
Of course.
Because people like Dorian West don’t survive scandals, disappearances, and whispered accusations by leaving things to chance. They survive by becoming impossible to corner. Impossible to own. Impossible to destroy before they destroy the threat first.
His fingers tighten loosely around the glass before relaxing again, calm settling back over him like smoke.
Downstairs, the music keeps playing.
And above it all, Dorian watches his kingdom from the dark exactly where he belongs.

Trade off Day Challenge - Hope Island
Elena had spent most of her life being told that the things she loved were strange. Witchcraft. Tarot cards stacked neatly beside half-filled journals. Candles burned low into the early hours of the morning while poetry spilled carefully across worn notebook pages. People in high school had laughed at her for it once, whispering behind her back like she couldn’t hear them, like their judgment was subtle enough to escape notice. Some looked at her with amusement, others with discomfort, as though her existence challenged something they didn’t want to question within themselves.
But Elena never stopped.
Trade off Day [Wave's End District]
Brittany doesn’t read the options like they’re instructions.
She reads them like they’re an audience.
Sacrifice. Risk. Protection. Three neat little boxes, dressed up to look meaningful. As if people don’t make these choices every day without naming them. As if calling it a “challenge” suddenly makes it honest.
Her lips curve faintly—not amused, not dismissive. Just aware.
Trade off Day - Falcon Haven District
Damon doesn’t answer right away.
Not because he’s unsure—but because he understands the question too well to treat it lightly. Most people will read it at face value. Three options. Three clean paths. Choose one, justify it, move on.
But nothing about choice has ever been clean.
He’s learned that the hard way.
His gaze lingers, unfocused for a moment, like he’s looking through the words instead of at them. Sacrifice. Risk. Protection. They aren’t abstract concepts to him—they’re lived experiences, each one carrying weight he doesn’t talk about and has no intention of explaining now.
Sacrifice for strength.
There was a time when that would have meant something different. Back when giving something up implied there was still a clear return waiting on the other side. Back when loss could be rationalized as progress. But that version of thinking doesn’t hold up under reality—not the kind he’s lived through. Sacrifice, in his experience, doesn’t come with guarantees. It just leaves gaps. Missing pieces. And eventually, you stop expecting anything greater to come from it.
He’s sacrificed enough.
More than enough.
And whatever strength came from it… it isn’t the kind people admire. It’s quieter than that. Harder. Built out of necessity, not ambition.
Risk for reward.
That one almost earns a reaction—but it never quite surfaces. There’s a time in his life that exists entirely inside that idea. Movement without hesitation. Decisions made on instinct. The constant pull toward something faster, louder, less predictable. It felt like freedom back then. Like control.
It wasn’t.
It was momentum without direction—and it only takes one misstep for that kind of momentum to turn on you. One fall. One moment where control slips just enough to change everything that comes after it.
He doesn’t need to imagine the outcome.
He’s already lived it.
Risk isn’t appealing. Not anymore. Not when he knows exactly how thin the line is between chance and consequence.
Which leaves the last option.
Protect what matters.
This time, he doesn’t look away from it.
There’s no immediate resistance. No need to dissect it from every angle. Because unlike the others, this one doesn’t feel like a question—it feels like recognition.
His life, as it stands now, is deliberate. Stripped down to what’s necessary. Built on routine, structure, and a level of control that most people would mistake for simplicity. But there’s nothing simple about it. Every part of it exists because it serves a purpose. It keeps things contained. Manageable. Quiet.
That quiet matters more than anyone realizes.
People might assume this is the safest choice. The easiest one. The option you take when you’re unwilling to push further.
They’d be wrong.
There’s nothing easy about maintaining something that fragile. Stability isn’t passive—it’s something you defend. Constantly. In small, consistent ways that no one notices because they aren’t meant to be seen.
Damon understands exactly what he’d be risking if he chose differently. Not just the visible parts of his life—the job, the routine, the place he’s carved out for himself—but the internal balance that allows all of it to exist in the first place.
That’s the part no one else can measure.
And it’s not negotiable.
His expression remains neutral, controlled as ever, but the decision settles fully this time. No second-guessing. No performance. Just a quiet, definitive conclusion.
He isn’t looking for more.
He isn’t interested in proving anything.
And he’s not willing to gamble something he had to rebuild from nothing.
Damon Henderson chooses to protect what matters—not out of fear, but out of understanding.
Because he knows exactly what it cost to build this life.
And exactly how easily it could all come undone.
