12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
Sybille is very much about non-verbal expression. She is an expert at looking down just after holding eye contact for a little too long, at curling her shoulders in and acting chuffed. She’s even half way decent at faking blushing and crying. She tends to fiddle with her hands, either with a pencil, or with whatever jewellery she’s wearing, especially necklaces. One of her go to moves to signal her interest, or to draw attention, is to bite her bottom lip, though she does genuinely carry out the movement when in thought.
18. What kind of person could they become in the future? What are some developmental paths that they could take, (best, worst, most likely?) what would cause them to come to pass, and what consequences might they have? What paths would you especially like to see, and why?
Best case scenario, Sybille ends up either a noble or near-noble class, bathing in milk with rose petals every night and sleeping on a hoard of money with no man to answer to. This happens when she manages to play everyone exactly how they need to be played, and when luck falls her way. Worst case scenario, she is left destitute and poor on the streets. Probably happens if she gets too deep in her games and loses scope, makes a few too many enemies. Most likely, Sybille plays with fire and ends up a little scalded, and tiptoes her way to a comfortable position, but not one she’s always dreamed of (perhaps there is a weak willed man she calls her husband, perhaps she’s not as well achieved as she’d like to be). I’d especially like to see something happen to Sybille which throws her way out of her comfort zone, which reminds her the stakes of the games she’s playing and forces her to think a little more strategically and seriously.
20. What kind of individual relationships do they have with others, and how do they behave in them? How are they different between intimate relationships like friends, family, and lovers versus more impersonal relationships?
There are four basic relationships Sybille forms which may overlap, relationships for sex, for business, for power or for friendship. Sex is straightforward, a shallow kind of flirtation that never delves too deep, if it does she calls it off. Business is still a little bit flirty, but (most of the time) without intent. All is fair in business and war, and Sybille likes to keep her clients close and her enemies closer. She’s extremely amiable, but sharp, cataloguing everything that might give her an advantage. Power is pretty explanatory, the other half may have thought the relationship had some other motivation, but Sybille will have been finding something to use in it, biding her time till she got her chance. And like any good extortionist, she does enjoy lording her power over others. Finally, friendships (partly including her familial relationships) are the relationships where Sybille is at her best. While still mostly self-centered, she does care for her friends… just less than she cares for her own wellbeing. She has been known to drop friendships when they are boring or draining or socially dangerous.
29. What kind of activities, interests, and hobbies do they have? What significance and impact do these have in their lives, both positive and negative?
Sybille has an interest in business, and in the world. Her interests include learning about the ever expanding world (and the goods it procures) and learning more. She has always preferred a book to a needle, and can be found in her study, reading, writing down her thoughts. Lately a mild interest in cyphers has struck her fancy.
