Part two of my theme: Actual Holmes. I love this video so much that I often just kinda sit around thinking about it.
Holmes and Watson. Whether you ship them or not, it’s an unbreakable bond.

Summary: John Watson and Molly Hooper are each paid a visit after Sherlock's fall. John, a visit from a very alive Sherlock, who's investigating the bizarre murder that's drawn him back to London. Molly, a visit from a very alive Moriarty, who only plans on a quick little interrogation—until he wonders if Molly's not quite as boring as she seems.

Rec: I almost didn't read it because of the Jim/Molly pairing, but I can't turn down anything with Johnlock in it, so I gave it a try, and I am so glad I did. This has something for just about everyone. You want Johnlock feels? This has Johnlock feels. You also like het? This has het. Do you want casefic with your smut? This has case. And smut. Can you not get enough creepy!unbalanced!Jim? This has creepy!unbalanced!Jim. Are you a fan of Molly? This not only has Molly, but BAMF!Molly, which. Obviously. There is even oblique Mycroft/Lestrade, although I don't want to get your hopes up on that count because it's really just a brief mention. Still.
Right, let's back up. First, a brief synopsis. As the summary says, both Sherlock and Jim survived the Fall, and both have come back to pick up their sidekicks to continue their 'game'. In Sherlock's case, it's not surprising that he's come for John, but no one was expecting Jim to choose Molly. Not even Jim. But things – and people – are not always as they seem...
I loved Jim in this. Well, not that I was rooting for him or anything. He is completely bonkers. And creepy and evil and utterly manipulative and I gobbled up every scene with him.
The John/Sherlock part was a slow build-up to an eminently satisfying resolution. I appreciated that John was just as much of a dick as Sherlock, and not just the wrongfully slighted, long-suffering, secretly pansexual, all-round do-gooder. The banter between the two of them was the perfect blend of aggression and affection. And the pillow talk at the end, OMG! I was giggling so hard.
If you read this at the AO3 link, there are several wonderful illustrations embedded (this was written for the 2012 johnlockbigbang). However, they are spoilerish, so you may want to refrain from scrolling through the entire work before you read. Also, while we're on warnings, see how I put 'extreme violence' up there under the official warnings for this rec? Yeah, there's a reason for that. There was one scene that I couldn't even read all the way through. I got about halfway and said, 'Okay, I get it, the guy's toast,' and skipped to the next page. There's also torture (less graphic, but still present) and gore and basically a huge list of trigger warnings at the top of the fic, so just be aware.
The ending was another one of those stroke-of-genius things, both the main climax and then the little extra epilogue-type scene tacked on at the very end, where I just sat there for several minutes afterwards nodding and going, 'Yeah. Yeah. I can totally see that. Sequel please?'

nope doesn’t work s2bu
I'm making some seriously icky noises right now
The Scarf: We just realised you mentioned you already have the scarf (Our mistake!), but for everyone else out there we'll go ahead and explain our suggestion. The original is a Paul Smith Reversible scarf that is currently out of stock on Asos. If you don't have the time to search the internet for a second hand sale we suggest improvising by sewing two different scarves/fabric together. Considering Holmes' scarf is both red/dark navy and green/dark navy checker plaid you can get away with finding fabric/scarves with the same pattern and splicing them together after cutting one or both for length. The Shoes: Option 1: -$25.00 Option 2: -$40.00 The Waistcoat: -$29.00 The Coat: -$45.50 The Trousers: -$22.50
P.S. IF THE FIC IS GOING TO BE IN SECOND PERSON, WOULD "YOU" PREFER TO BE SHERLOCK OR MORIARTY? AND I KNOW THE CORRECT ANSWER IS "BOTH" OF THEM ARE "YOU"... AND ACTUALLY I'VE ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION NOW I HAVE AN EVEN MORE DERROTIC EXCITING FIC TO BE WRITING SO BRB.
I KNOW I'M ANSWERING THESE OUT OF ORDER BUT THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL TO READ NOW THAT I'VE READ YOUR DRABBLE <3333
LOL OMG RYN, Ryn apparently you needn't even remind me about Derrida, three select tabs I had open for your drabble even before reading your other post: "Poststructuralism and Discourse Theory," "wiseGEEK Post-Structuralism," "Derrida: The Father of Deconstruction". Iluuuuu I feel like I'm having a random Irene moment of "I know what Ryn likes". :P Or at least "I know one think Ryn likes because Sheriarty I am you you are me." <33
I KNOW WHAT RYN LIKES
YES YES YOU DO

Okay still about to take a break, but I do just want to say in reference to your discussion with captainsway, I feel VERY uncomfortable with any kind of analogy between shipping and oppression, unless it's a direct link not an analogy (i.e. "Johnlock fandom's cissexist", "head/heart is allism", etc). "we get shit on irl and we get shit on in the fandom" is true, but it's true in that fandom is racist, cissexist, etc, and I feel like the analogy invisibilizes this... (Part 2 on its way!)
Part 2: … because rarepair shippers are not INHERENTLY an oppressed group. Johnlock fandom is gross, you don't have to be nice to anyone as long as you're not oppressive, so their arguments are bullshit, but analogizing to SJ/oppression feels really inappropriate and privileged to me. Especially given the literal whiteness of both pairings, and the presence of QTPoC in both fandoms. (May not be been articulate because of headache, feel free to ask for clarification and I'll respond in a bit. <3)
JK, part 3: But I do want to affirm once again that literal connections w/ oppression are definitely legit to discuss without need of analogy because they are oppressive. :/ Just in case I didn't make that clear. Like how telling someone to be quiet and nice could potentially be sexist depending, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. <-- Many "etc"s for many Johnlock horriblenesses.
You're absolutely right, and I'm so sorry for erasing with that. Only oppression is like oppression. I won't conflate fandom issues with -ism again. Thank you for calling me out on this, and let me know--if you're comfortable--if there's anything else I can do better in this regard.
Wanting to have sex with someone and being sexual attracted someone are two very different things. Love, a person on the asexual spectrum who often wants to have sex with people. (Not saying Holmes is or isn't ace, but since he specifically said he was sex-repulsed and hasn't expressed sexual attraction, only potential agreeableness to sex under very specific conditions that may have actually been a lie to get info out of someone, I think it's a valid canon interpretation.)
They only problem with your case is that he has expressed sexual attraction towards someone he didn't love. At the time, he didn't suspect her as the criminal, so there would be no reason for him to use sex to get information out of her. She was already helping him out with the case, giving him the information he asked for, etc.
I would argue that Sherlock loves Joan. Does he want to have sex with her to show that love? No. Did Sherlock love the maybe prostitute that was in his house the first episode? Probably not. While love could be a reason for an asexual person to have sex, that is not the reason Sherlock does.
What we have seen from Sherlock is the opposite of what people consider asexuality, only psychical attraction without any of the emotion.
I would totally agree with you, if it wasn't wasn't for that one scene I still think he doesn't like sex, but rather, can't see him self be in another type of relationship. There is also suggestion of a sexual relationship in the next episode, we'll just have to see that.
