SCARS As with tattoos, most of the faded scars on his arms, chest, and back came from the war, but unlike his artwork, he gained a lot of the others from his hard labor days leading up to when he was turned. Since he attained these scars whilst still alive, they faded, but are not gone completely.

MARKS Virgil has a darkly colored, brown splotchy birthmark the size of a quarter on the inside of his right thigh.

SAVVIES He picks up on different languages fast, learning French in the short amount of time he was in France for the war. Also, being a former soldier, he knows his way around weaponry, even the modernized firearms of today. Virgil can also read people extremely well, if he takes the time to do so. He can almost calculate their next move before they make it.

INEPTITUDE Virgil was not born to be an artist, so when it comes to thinks like poetry or musical prowess, he falls short. He also has surprising sloppy handwriting, as well. He hates the modern world because of their stupid inventions, so he owns a smartphone but there are certain apps/programs on it that he doesn’t know how to use because he barely picks it up.

QUIRKS Virgil was a smoker when he was human, and even after 100+ years, you can still almost always find him with a cigarette in his hand even though the nicotine does nothing for his dead lungs. He also keeps himself extremely busy as well as typically surrounded by women of his personal choice, because if he’s alone for any extended period of time, his mind begins to work- and he hates what it has to say about him.

James’ Family

James hadn’t always been a part of the Goldsteins.  His parents, biological ones anyway, were Olivia and Noah Spencer.  When James was 11 years old the family got into a fatal car accident, leaving the boy an orphan and with no memories.  Even as an adult getting on in his years, James knows nothing about his parents beyond what a few legal documents can provide.  He may never know what they were like as people, as parents, but a part of him knows that they loved him.

He jumped from foster home to foster home until a little after his 16th birthday, when the Goldsteins adopted him, much to everyone from the agency’s surprise.  Judith and Frank were kind, southernly people, and they instantly treated him like one of their own.  His new sister, Dorothy (Dot he affectionately calls her), was only six years old and barely remembered a time when he wasn’t part of her life.  

His parents are traditional in the sense that his mother nearly beat southern hospitality into James and his father knew how to fix just about anything under the sun.  Dorothy seemed shy at times, but she was very defensive of her brother whenever he came home with a black eye.  They all taught James important lessons moving into adulthood, and he loves them all with everything he has.  

It was really hard to run away after turning, but James was willing to do everything in his power to make sure his family was safe.  Now that he is under control and living a more normal life, he has reached out to his parents and sister, calling them on a regular basis to make up for the decade he spent alone in the Appalachians.

Ori’s “Family”

Ori remembers nothing from the human that came before her, thus making it hard for her to claim any family for her own.  She did not even have a name, thus given one by her tormentor - Oriniana.  But still no family name.  For centuries this loneliness continued, the demon having no one to care for and vice versa.  

In the late 19th century, something changed.  Ori possessed a young witch of 13.  This girl had extraordinary powers; she retained full consciousness, causing the demon to be on the sidelines, yet she never rejected Ori.  Quite the opposite, this curious witch was enamored with the demon, calling her her only friend.  Ori grew fond of the child, realizing that they had both dealt with a great deal of loneliness before finding one another.  

The witch’s name was Elizabeth Velnias.  As the years continued Elizabeth and Ori grew closer and closer.  Eventually, Ori was able to have her own vessel as a reward for her servitude to a higher tiered demon, and thus the two could be together physically.  Unfortunately this happiness could not last long, as Elizabeth died not too long after.  Ori vowed to treasure the girl in her heart for all eternity, thus deciding to take up the surname Velnias for herself.  Even today, an old black and white photo of a teenaged girl sits on the demon’s desk at the day care, one of the few objects Ori treasures in this world.
