It's true that Penny is a robot, but she also has a unique aura. So they might not be able to bring her back as the same person. Even if they could it's unlikely she would have her memories. :/ Well I hope they bring Penny back either way.

Yes, that’s true, and it’s the reason I’m treating her as dead-is-dead for now. But, they’ve implied that someone who is supposedly dead is coming back, and of the dead characters- Penny, Pyrrha, Torchwick, and Summer- Penny is the one that has the best support for why it would be her. (What with Pyrrha’s death being reversed cheapening death in RWBY overall, Torchwick getting eaten and never being intended to be a major character anyway, and they’d need a damn good reason to reverse Summer’s death.)

Also aside from the actual scientific explanations, blue vs. orange is a very common movie tool. They contrast each other well, so directors tend to put orange and blue in either the same or consecutive scenes. The days were orange, the nights blue.

Oh, indeed. The use of color-contrast is a very good storytelling tool, I just liked the idea of trying to invoke a self-consistent in-universe reason for lovely blue nights. :P
