“Oh!”
Barriss had been out of focus all day, trying to shovel through the proverbial pile of feelings and thoughts which plagued her brain -- and in times like these, she’d always find herself trying to find something to meditate on. It happened to be an oddly warm and sunny day for the season, so the Mirialan had brought out a small rosebush to take in some sun, when she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
“...If it isn’t Ib! My, it has been a good long while...how have you been?”
@redpctals
“So you’re back, Ib. Got any Christmas plans?”
"I know what I saw."
“Do you.”
He doesn’t mean to sound skeptical, but, at the same time, he’s finding it terribly hard to believe. A certain degree of amusement has crept into his tone- though he tries to master it, feeling bad for the indignant look he is receiving.
“My apologies. It must have passed by when I wasn’t looking.”
’ I remember everyone that leaves. ’
“...Perhaps.” Indeed, humans were always rather fickle creatures -- it was rare for them to stay in one place, with one group of people, for long. They had a sort of “adventurer’s instinct,” as Dettlaff saw it -- they needed to explore, experiment, take unnecessary risks. From what the vampire could understand, this was due to their mortality; they needed to test their limits, no matter who they hurt in the process.
“...You should treasure your time with them, nonetheless. That’s what humanity is wonderful at, after all. Taking those precious, short moments, and turning them into magic. Never take those moments for granted.”

“It’s a cat, actually. Or will be, once I paint it.” The young woman had approached him with curiosity in regards to the figure he was whittling away at -- with little choice but to respond, Dettlaff handed it to her so she could have a closer look. “See? Those are the ears.”
