Ephraim fancied himself a jack of all trades, which brought him many places in his life, most recently being a manager of a hotel that featured a staff of all demons masquerading as humans to feed their desires. he hates how easily he's identified. bear has spent his whole life desperate for one thing or another. first it was freedom, and then, once he got it, a desperation to keep it. he had known that growing up it was obvious, practically the only thing that he was made up of, but he had hoped some of that would wear off with time.

"is that a threat?" voice goes up louder than usual, maybe to make himself seem a little bit bigger than he is. he'll do more, if he has to.

The words come out of her mouth so easily, it might almost sound like she’s teasing. But no, instead she’s acting on impulse. As much as she might try to avoid saying so, she worries about him. A lot. Too much. It would be easier not to.
