moon elixir (buttercups au)
hi! i'm back with another au (meau; pronounced meow lol)! this was my idea for the deadeye zine project, but unfortunately i wasn't selected :/ i'll still write the fic i thought of tho! so here are a few details about it >:D
it's a cowboys-themed au, though there are mythical creatures in it (i.e., vampires and sorcerers, mostly)
grian is a watcher (which is kinda like a biblically accurate angel in this au? ish?) (and a cowboy! yeehaw!)
mumbo is a vampire (and an heir)
scar is a sorcerer (and a cat hybrid + an assassin/hitman)
scar and grian are from this one town that's near the desert (idk the name yet lol) they were childhood friends (and bonded over the fact that they're both mythical/magical creatures) and eventually fell in love (though they never confessed! ;0;) but one day scar betrayed grian by joining the police force (he was in desperate need of money and being a police hitman would enable him to pay for all his necessities) (grian views it as betrayal because he's always been against the government) thus, grian left town and scar has been looking for him ever since so he can properly apologize and confess
and so grian becomes a cowboy and starts robbing banks and rich people's houses/properties! >:D but in order to not be found, he's constantly on the run across the desert. he gets hurt many times by government officers, and at some point, one of his eight wings breaks (he has two on his head and six on his back; one of his back wings gets broken)
from scar's pov, nothing really happens for a while, though he does gain money by getting commissioned to kill. the government pays him well, and so he investigates cases and stuff. suddenly, a series of mysterious murders happens across the desert and its neighbouring towns/villages. eventually, people fully believe grian is behind the mysterious murders, and so scar is sent on his tail by the police force
one day, still hurt and in need of money to get cured, grian decides to steal from a powerful vampire family (mumbo's!) but while there, he meets mumbo, and they make a pact: if grian protects mumbo and leads him to a faraway town across the desert (so he can escape his family), mumbo will give grian his blood in order to heal his injuries. and so they're both on the run!
grian rapidly finds out that mumbo's the person behind the mysterious murders lol; mumbo never really socialized outside of his family's estate, and so his hunger is quite powerful, and he does not know how to control it yet (he was forced to feed off his friends and children back at the estate because his parents believe in vampiric supremacy and so the poor guy's kinda traumatized lol)
cue silly shenanigans between grian and mumbo! they start falling for one another, and grian begins feeling guilty over his feelings because he's still in love with scar, and he doesn't really understand that *yes* you can fall in love with multiple people (lmao) the angst is angsting
because mumbo is nocturnal, he and grian travel during the night and sleep in motels/tents during the day. they're both pretty weak and need frequent breaks, so they are quite slow in their travels
one night, as the sun sets, grian wakes up with a gasp; he's had a vision. (since he's a watcher, he has visions of the future-kinda like alice from twilight lol-) he saw scar running towards him. panicking, he and mumbo grab everything they got and are back on the run
but scar gets to them impressively fast, and arrests them by bonding them to him using runes/spells. the thing tho, is that scar needs to spill blood to cast spells/draw runes. so, famished, mumbo jumps on him and starts drinking his blood (and is addicted cause sorcerers' blood is super 'refined' and tasty lol) so scar and mumbo are accidentally blood-bonded because of mumbo's bite (they share emotions, feelings, and pain). everyone is kinda annoyed at each other and their relationship is very tense at the beginning lol; grian feels even more betrayed and is still very much angry at scar because of their shared past too. though, they start traveling back to scar and grian's original town nonetheless
but of course! they all for one another over the duration of their trip lol ;; and so scar ultimately decides to run away with mumbo and grian :>
idea of a very specific scene: at some point, grian and scar can't stop arguing in the middle of the day while mumbo's trying to sleep and he grows immensely fed up of their quarrels, so he gets up from the bed, kisses scar, then kisses grian, and shouts 'THERE. THAT'LL SHUT YOU BOTH UP.' LMAO
they do... other stuff while in motels. if you get what i'm saying. wink wink
scar loves to wrap his tail around mumbo and grian's legs :( and he purrs super loudly (especially when cuddling them)
oh oh and mumbo has gigantic bat wings :P
but yeah that's pretty much it for now! i have already started writing a fic for this au :> hope you like it as much as i do (it's so important to me lol ;w;)
