Discover how coral reefs play a vital role in protecting Havelock Island from storms, coastal erosion, and environmental damage. These vibrant underwater ecosystems act as natural barriers that absorb powerful wave energy, support marine biodiversity, maintain beach stability, and strengthen coastal resilience against climate change.
The beautiful paradox hidden beneath the sea surface Havelock Island, officially known as Swaraj Dweep, is a popular scuba dive destination
Irresponsible tourism can severely impact scuba diving in Havelock such as accidental coral contact, reef destruction due to boat anchors, coastal pollution, overcrowded dive sites, and plastic waste etc. The solution of the problem is regulating tourism activities, limiting tourist numbers, reef cleaning drives, and responsible marine preservation and conservation.

Coral Reefs are essential for the world. It protects coastlines from the damaging effects of wave action and tropical storms, provides habitats and shelter for many marine organisms, are the source of nitrogen and other essential nutrients for marine food chains, assist in carbon and nitrogen fixing and much more! Lately, Coral reefs have been endangered by a variety of factors, including: natural phenomena such as hurricanes, El Niño, and diseases; local threats such as overfishing, destructive fishing techniques, coastal development, pollution, and careless tourism; and the global effects of climate change. Our volunteers in the North Bali Reef Conservation Program will help protect and conserve the reef. #volunteerinbali #volunteerinindonesia #reefconservation #cleanoceans #volunteerabroad #gooverseas (at Bali Indonesia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_kbg3JABFJ/?igshid=1tztktvo49kky
Life is better under the sea 🐠 . We’re rewinding back to our days of diving in our Caribbean home. Our scuba volunteers are valuable contributors to this regional underwater wildlife. They operate fish surveys, support reef regrowth, record data overtime, and most importantly, gain a deeper appreciation for our ocean. . #givenicaragua #givevolunteers #conservationdiver #reefconservation #scubadiverlife #scubavolunteers (at Little Corn Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-fjTpBjTl2/?igshid=bym0snnogpyp
