Happy World Ocean Day!
Our Oceans, Our Future
Save the oceans as the Earth would not be the same if the major part of its constituent goes polluted and dead.
World Ocean Day
On World Oceans Day, it is crucial that we unite to protect and preserve these invaluable resources. By recognizing the immense importance of oceans and taking collective action to address issues such as pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction, we can ensure the long-term health and sustainability of our oceans.
"On this World Oceans Day, let's pledge to protect our precious oceans and work towards creating a sustainable future for our planet.”

🦈 Corred, animaros a firmar!
EN|| Sharks are seriously threatened (there are even many species in danger of extinction) this is mainly due to their indiscriminate fishing to sell their fins. And, oddly enough, Europe contributes enormously and is a hot spot for the shark fin trade. Since 2003 finning has been prohibited in Europe, and since 2013 it has been allowed to fish some species of sharks but without discarding the rest of the body. However, the European legislation continues to allow the trade of fins of non-protected species. When only the fins are transported, the identification of the species is very difficult, especially as shipments often mix different types of fins, leading to easy trade in fins from protected species and illegally caught fins. Sharks are at the top of the food chain and play a fundamental role in the marine balance, regulating and balancing the life in them and helping to preserve their ecosystems. Avoiding the environmental catastrophe that would mean the disappearance of sharks involves putting a stop to this lucrative business. This requires Europe to stop exporting shark fins and not facilitate trade through its territory. There are only 4 days left before the end of the term to sign the European citizens initiative to propose a legislative change that prohibits the shark fin trade. 🦈 Run, I encourage you to sign! You can find the link and all the information at @stopfinningeu I leave you with the illustration of a sand tiger shark (endangered species) that I wanted to do to highlight the beauty of sharks and the marine world, as well as shine a light on this fight. Later on I will show you this illustration finished!
Thingamabobs Here’s something I drew to mark World Oceans Day (8 June). The reality isn’t quite as cute, of course. Do you know about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (Google it!) swirling in the Pacific Ocean? It has supposedly increased ten-fold each decade since 1945! The theme for this year is The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods. Whether you live near the sea or in a landlocked country, we all depend on the ocean for our survival and wellbeing. The ocean produces more than half of the oxygen we breathe, absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, regulates our climate, and provides us with food (not just fish but also sea vegetables) and even drinking water for some countries, like Singapore (after going through desalination). Billions of people rely on the ocean for their livelihoods — those in the fishing and shipping industries, the marine science and conservation industries, the water recreation and tourism industries. The ocean also supports the mental wellbeing of those of us who gaze at it from time to time. It inspires songs and poetry, myths and legends. It calms us and reminds us of how small are troubles are in the grand scheme of things. It also reminds us of how connected to the the world we are, especially in a time when we aren’t allowed to travel. Although the ocean seems to separate lands, it really connects us all. When you dip your toes in the sea, you are instantly connected, through an unbroken chain of water molecules, to the Himalayan peaks, the Euphrates and the Amazon and the Mississippi, the canals of Venice and the sandy shores of Hawaii. Although we draw boundaries to split up the ocean into the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic, there is really only one ocean. #worldoceansday #UNOceansDay2021 #worldoceanday #ocean #protectouroceans #oceanlife #marinelife #nobluenogreen #littlemermaid #mermaid #plasticwaste #pollution #seapollution #marineconversation #aquaticlife #planet #biodiversity #environment #nature #noplastic #plasticfreeoceans #oneocean #ecofriendly #lessplastic (at The Great Pacific Garbage Patch) https://www.instagram.com/p/CP17n2Rnn2m/?utm_medium=tumblr
#Repost from my Totally Awesome Vegan Conservationist friends at @oneprotest @download.ins --- In the wake of the FWC approval for a limited harvest on goliath grouper, one angler was arrested for illegally possessing one. In Islamorada, the inspection of a man's cooler uncovered the findings of a live goliath grouper. Thankfully, the fish was released back into the ocean, and the man was arrested. In Florida waters, harvesting a goliath grouper can result in a fine of up to $500 per fish and up to 60 days in jail. It is unknown how long the man was detained and what charges were filed. While this man was caught, an unknown number of people could be out there illegally taking them under the radar. Mix that with the extremity and lingering effects of this year's red tide that resulted in a catastrophic massacre on our marine life, it is clear that now is NOT the appropriate time to open a harvest, limited or not, on the Florida goliath grouper. This harvest is not backed by science, no evidence supports this decision, and many scientists have voiced their opposition and fear for a limited harvest. Please take action and help save this gentle giant! Please sign and share the petition below, urging the FWC to stop moving forward with this harvest approval. 🐠Petition: https://www.change.org/p/fwc-deny-proposal-for-limited-harvest-of-the-critically-endangered-goliath-grouper 🐟Linked in bio🐟 . . . #Grouper #GoliathGrouper #Fish #Islamorada #SouthFlorida #SoFlo #FloridaKeys #Keys #ProtectOurOceans #OneProtest https://www.instagram.com/p/CT0g-VbAroh/?utm_medium=tumblr
