GREAT BARRIER REEF
I booked a Reef Magic Cruises tour, which takes the ocean-lovers to the Marine World (a stage on the inner reef). The trip takes an hour and a half. Air-co on high level and -due to the rough waves- some puking passengers, otherwise the ride was okay. Backwards I remained on the deck, as tanning on a speedy boat is awesome.
The reef was gorgeous. Some anti-stinger suit is recommended although we saw only one jelly fish. The water temperature is very nice. I met Wally, the Napoleon Wrasse. He is a giant but very friendly fish like to be pet. Unfortunately it is a endangered specie. I have several pictures with him, of some I share with you.
I enjoyed my first ever Scuba Diving. Got to the bottom, swimming 6-8 meters below the surface. The equalisation of my ears is the biggest challenge, to use the gear is not so difficult. I could see creatures down there, which by snorkelling are not visible. Wally was a friendly stalker, I think he likes me. ☺️
I also got to the outer reef with a safari snorkelling, when a marine biologist was explaining between two breaths what we were seeing and he was continuously pointing to group of animals and helped to find Nemo (as damn, he is hiding so good 😁). You see more bigger fish in the outer reef, so when a shark crossed by, I was a bit surprised, but the guide was so calm, I immediately knew everything is just alright, so I enjoyed viewing the Grey Whaler passing by.
After debarking I headed to this fish boat where they sell prawns (gambas) for AUD 20 per kg. Australian style with a local twist: caught, cooked, frozen in sea-water, leave it in a cooler for a while and serve with lime and some sauce. Yammi. Owner is nice, so his friends ☺️
P.S.: posts might come in a delayed mode (days, weeks, months) Australian time always ends with an -ish, so trying to adapt a bit 😆
