Dangerous Liasons
The White Wyvern was a familiar haunt for a certain type of person, and while Rodolphus normally made a point to never be familiar- being familiar meant being predictable, and being predictable spelled danger- he had to admit that spent more time there than was strictly necessary. But it was perfect for a drink after a long day at the office, and he felt that he could simply blend into the shadows along the edge of the bar.
Or a least, he was trying to blend in, when he spotted a familiar face swinging up the stairs from the tattoo parlor. Reeta Skeeter, who ostensibly worked for him, had spotted him across the room. Bloody hell, he didn’t want to deal with her right now. Not that they’d ever spoken much to begin with, but he heard plenty of gossip from his writer’s room, and he’d read enough proofs of her pieces to know that she was a specific brand of bull-headed and precocious that was deadly when paired with a reasonably intelligent person.
He took another drink, and braced himself. What oh what could she possibly want with him? If it was a raise, he was going to fire her, he decided. But he’d give her a good reference based on the level of bravery it took to ask him for money.
