what are some reasons for someone to create a pact with a dark spawn? do you have any ideas or concepts?
i'm going to try not to make this too long, but here are a few ideas off the top of my head!
they were the only one out of their siblings not to manifest any magical powers thanks to their half human ancestry. to compensate, they're using the magic they gain from their pact to be just as powerful.
they once had a lover who was a darkspawn, but their bond was broken. now, they keep trying to summon & pact with more darkspawn in hopes that one of the darkspawn they find will have more information on their lover or help find them.
they have always been fascinated by the existence of darkspawn and wanted to observe one up close. they don't necessarily care for the power that comes with a bond, they just want to make sure that their research subject can't leave them...
pure power. they have been going through darkspawn pacts for years and years, perhaps putting each one through some trial, and no darkspawn has been able to prove themselves powerful enough for them to actually keep the pact.
out of a last act of survival. perhaps they were on the brink of death or worse, and they were just barely able to conduct the summoning ritual and bind themselves to a darkspawn, thus saving themselves.
it sounds a little silly, but just for company! i love characters who are maybe just so desperate to be seen / understood, and they haven't been able to find it in others of their kind, so they turn to darkspawn instead.
they were forced to. this could be mutually arranged pacts --- it's rare but not impossible for there to be prominent darkspawn families, who other powerful families might seek to establish alliances with through a pact --- or something more one-sided, where they come from a long family tree who has passed on a pact to a trusted darkspawn, generation after generation.
