For My Fellow Undocumented Immigrants and Refugees.

As this is a very scary time for immigrants all over the United States (and other parts of the world) I’ve decided to make a work-in-progress master-list of websites for young, undocumented immigrants, not dependent on whether or not you have DACA (Differed Action for Childhood Arrivals) status, and although some of these are DACA centered, they are still VERY HELPFUL RESOURCES!!

My Undocumented Life: This is a blog with a bunch of helpful, up-to-date information to help undocumented youth, including scholarships, ways to get involved, and stories from other young undocumented immigrants. Very well organized, and updated regularly. 

United We Dream: An organization that is dedicated to the preservation and continuation of DACA under the new administration. They’re more active on their twitter than their website, from what I can tell, but both are still great ways to stay up-to-date on new developments and what is being done to protect those of us who have DACA status, as well as help those who are eligible receive the help they need. 

Reform Immigration FOR America: This is an organization that helps to educate people as well as fight for the rights of immigrants and refugees in America. Again, they seem to be very active on their twitter account, but their website is still a good resource, too. 

The Immigrant Legal Resources Center: This is an excellent website to look through because they provide legal help information for immigrants and refugees that the other organizations might be lacking in. They also have a page dedicated to the rights of LGBTQ+ immigrants, which is something a lot of immigrant and refugee focused groups don’t usually offer. Other areas of expertise include asylum law, immigration-enforcement, and removal/deportation defense. This website is updated regularly, from what I could tell when looking through the site. 

National Immigration Law Center: Another law-based center for immigrants. Their main focus is “defending and advancing the rights of low-income immigrants.” They have a page for ways to get involved with their fight for helping immigrants get the rights they deserve, as well. 

National Immigration Forum: This is an advocacy group for immigration reform, with links to recent blog posts at the bottom of their page, as well as a page with information for "unlikely allies of immigrants,” consisting of people of conservative faith, law enforcement, and business leadership. 

National Immigration Project: This group’s mission, as pulled directly off of their website, is to “[promote] justice and equality of treatment in all areas of immigration law, the criminal justice system, and social policies related to immigration,” and have a link to help people find an attorney by state, although not all 50 states are listed. 

It’s not a long list, but it is still a list that could help people. Immigration is a hard topic to talk about, and it’s sometimes awkward to let people know that you’re undocumented. But I hope that this list is able to help at least one person.

Resources on how to help incoming Afghan refugees in the U.S.

BERLIN | The Latest: Malta asking other EU states for refugee help

BERLIN — The Latest on Europe’s migrant crisis (all times local):

12:00 p.m.

The leader of Malta says his island nation is working to solve the case of a German-run rescue ship stuck in international waters with 234 migrants on board.

In a statement Tuesday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said Malta aims “to prevent escalation into humanitarian crisis” by sharing the responsibility with other fellow EU nations. No details were given, and the statement did not say whether Malta would allow the vessel to dock.

The statement also said that Malta planned to investigate the captain of the Lifeline, run by a German non-governmental agency, nothing that he had ignored instructions.

The ship has been stranded for days since Italy’s populist interior minister refused to allow it access to ports, echoing the case of the Aquarius that was refused entry to Italy and Malta, only to be taken in by Spain, 1500 kilometers (900 miles) away.

Fearful of a domino effect if Germany closes its borders, Austria has conducted a high-profile training exercise to show how it could deal with an influx of migrants along its frontier with Slovenia.

Hundreds of police and soldiers staged a dry run Tuesday near Spielfeld, 175 kilometers (110 miles) south of Vienna. The town was a major crossing point for migrants in the summer and fall of 2015.

Thousands of migrants poured through Europe’s open borders daily three years ago, triggering a humanitarian and political crisis that has left deep divisions on the continent.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is under pressure from conservative allies in Bavaria to turn migrants back at the border, a move that could prompt others to do the same.

Hardly any migrants have been arriving in Spielfeld recently.
