men(do) ari! | Uzu and Gin
A flurry of colour and activity was what waited to greet Gintoki's eyes when he arrived at the location of the flower festival in Paralia. There was a sweet scent that hung in the air, a mix of the subtle sweetness from fresh flowers and the stronger smell from sugared treats and others of the ilk.
What had caught Gintoki's interest enough to leave his apartment and take the trouble in coming here was not anything to do with beauty and appreciating the flowers. Those would be a plus with the booze, of course, but it had been the promise of free candy that had lured the grown man out of his den.
Right away, he deviated to the first store, where a pile of candies was loaded into a bag and handed to him. The candies where a brilliant mishmash of bright colours, yellow like the sun, pink like cheery blossoms, and other such delicious looking pastels.
Calloused fingers reached into the bag and emerged with one of the treats which was immediately popped into his mouth, and a smile touched upon his lips. Free treats and a sight to be appreciated, it seemed that it had been well worth the trouble he'd taken to come here.
Bag hanging from his left hand which was slung in the yukata, empty sleeve flapping in a gentle breeze, he scratched at his back while he continued, taking in the sights, his right sleeve hanging loose from the belt at his hips.
And yet, it seemed like as with countless other occasions, there was that one asshole who couldn't just enjoy the damned time, and saw fit to take sick pleasure in being a complete tool instead.
Walking along, Gintoki noticed a greasy and unpleasant looking young man huddled in a quiet corner. The freelancer would have completely overlooked this if not from the stray pained squeak that escaped from that direction. Attention caught, he glanced over, eyes narrowing when they noticed patches of crimson, nearly the shade of his eyes, on snow white fur.
Now, Gintoki wasn't exactly passionate about animal rights, but it still didn't sit well with him to see an innocent creature being treated so cruelly. Besides, there was something familiar about the defiant look in those dark grey eyes, unyielding even when facing a stronger creature than himself.
A low growl rising in his throat, he stomped up to the man, grabbing his shoulder with a vice grip.
"Oi, oi. What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Feeling a presence next to him, he quickly realised he had not been the only one to notice this disgusting act.
