Some Great American Songbook LPs surprise us more than anyone would be really willing to admit. I mean, what could have someone like Glenn Frey done with such a material. He only did one album in this vein, titled After Hours, and I must say I'm intrigued. Sure, this feels like a warm-up, yet some moments on the LP cause you to be shocked. Frey rarely felt like a guy who could've listened to these tunes, let alone tackle them ts and he does seem to be a bit timid on the disc. However, I believe he may have had a plan to do more of these, but his band was the bigger priority for him. Sadly, I must add, he could've been a great singer of these pieces.
