the magician: how does trust develop between rook and their partner?

davrin and ismeria are both skeptical by nature so trust is built through actions first and words second. davrin is ALWAYS talking a big game so ismeria watches him to see if he can actually back it up. especially since, in so many ways, davrin seems way too good to be true??? there must be a catch but he keeps proving time and time again that yes he IS just this principled and dedicated and compassionate and strong and and and

inversely, davrin is watching ismeria to see how she prioritizes her promise of helping him with the gloomhowler and what kind of leader she is. "rook" is brusque at first, which helps davrin compartmentalize this as Just Another Job like he normally does. but then he sees how kind ismeria actually is, how her motivation for the fight against the evanuris isn't something new and untried but is actually just a grander scope of the cause she was already dedicated to in tevinter.

these two would follow each other to hell and back. trust!

i WILL say though that. i have plans to stress test this trust in a pit of snakes so. stay tuned 🤭

the hermit: in the quiet moments where it’s just the two of them, how do rook and their partner share that time?

tbh they make art! i love to envision them parallel playing in a shared studio space in their post-game minrathous house. i see them in a huge breezy room with magical windows that can keep the rain outside. ismeria is painting a huge watercolor landscape of arlathan forest from her memory of visiting davrin's clan; davrin is working on a "family portrait" carving of them with assan that they're going to display in their entryway 🥹

8. What kind of demon would emerge from them had they been subject to Zara’s experiments?

omg getting captured and enduring venatori blood magic experiments is literally ismeria's WORST CASE SCENARIO pre-veilguard. plus i can see her feeling like she's fundamentally failed, because guarding yourself against possession is Being a Mage 101. HITTING WHERE IT HURTS OOF 🫣

i think what would emerge is a demon of disdain. it's an advanced offshoot of pride (a rarer variety like zara wanted) growing from the seed of how much ismeria despises her jailers. she thinks she's better than them and always has. the demon is born from a combination of a sense of moral superiority that's starkly relevant in this specific situation plus the deeply embedded parts of her that are petty and hold grudges and don't forgive.

like lucanis she would definitely try to deal with it by herself until it's undeniable that that's not going to work. she'd carry a lot of shame about being possessed and living with what she considers as the nastiest parts of her psyche PLUS her incapability in something she deeply prides herself in (wielding magic) so tangibly manifested would drive her crazy. even if she can accept that this demon sprung from her like athena from zeus how can she get help with something that only she can see??? davrin please come get your girl she literally needs the power of love and friendship to save her omg

11. Which OCs do you feel like you know the best?

oh that’s definitely gotta be my boy javi!!! 🧡 i originally conceived him during early pandemic as a mass effect oc for a 1x1 rp and over the years that has sprawled out into like a dozen AUs 😌

he's my chaotic, impulsive sagittarius sunshine baby boy 🥹 he's a military brat n7 vanguard, quit the alliance bc he got fed up with the bureaucracy leading up to the reaper war, and grew a reputation as a robin hood space pirate in the aftermath. i feel like i know him the best bc he's the character i've written the most for + all the diff aus mean i was swimming around in his head in every different kind of setting/dynamic

my vampire ancient, harionna! another oc i conceived for a 1x1 rp. i based her off of the japanese myth about the harionago, a female ghoul that can use her hair as sharp, deadly barbs. was very castlevania pilled when i wrote her fight scenes way back when hahaha

sharp cheekbones 🔪 and a JUICY booty

also jet black hair, full lips, and ethnic noses!

they all tend to be creative 🎨 i’ve gifted my ocs with skills in writing, dancing, cooking, music, painting, anddd photography

they also all tend to be good leaders even though their styles can vastly differ. my ocs all have grand values and causes that they're passionate enough to kill for 🤪 i can have a little rage fantasy. as a treat 🧁

lastly they're all absolute sluts 🤭

16. Do you have any OCs who you mostly just like for the design, rather than personality or story?

i'm a writer so all my characters have pretty robust foundations is personality and story! in terms of design though one of my faves is my jjk sorcerer, miya 🌸 she's my jocky pastel time traveling femme dream girl 🙂‍↕️

#1. have they met their partner's loved ones?

unfortunately for davrin,,,,,, yes he has 🙃 he definitely had an "ah. so that's why you're Like That (emotionally repressed and violent)" moment when he met ismeria's maternal figure—more on this in the next update for a pit of snakes 😌

ismeria canonically meets uncle eldrin and eventually, post game she joins davrin in reuniting with his clan. i see them spending a handful of days in the forest so that davrin can have one on one time with all the people he needs to reconnect with. i also definitely see ismeria and his family being super mutually curious about each other (it's giving reuniting the diaspora)

i don't think they visit super often because they're both such Headstrong children, but whenever they do it's for a good stretch of time

#18. what qualities do they have that complement one another? are there any that sometimes cause friction?

davrin is really drawn to ismeria's steadfast sense of purpose. especially after weisshaupt, he stays warm by the fire of her determination. conversely, ismeria really learns from the way davrin practices care. he makes it safe to be soft 🥹

fundamentally, what makes them compatible is that they believe in their own agency. they're both the drivers of change in their lives; they leave a lot of room for the other to be independent in their relationship because it's a shared core value

re: friction, i think the differences in the way they grew up can blow up in their face sometimes 😬 ismeria who was raised by distant, adoptive parents who are still in her life vs. davrin who was raised with so much intention by a whole clan but left them behind; finding a middle ground can be triggering for both of them but through the process they both do some inner child healing they've both been avoiding 🙂‍↕️

EYE can't sing (super well) or play piano (i keep my nails long as fuck) unforch 😔 but yeah i picked up flute in the 6th grade after two years playing the recorder and made it all the way up to section leader my junior year of hs and then drum major my senior year. shout out to my beautiful crisp white uniform i miss her
