I know this is another thing from forever ago, but I absolutely want to say how much I appreciate you. Not only are you a lovely writer who produces some of my favourite gijinka ocs ever, but you really strike me as a thoughtful, compassionate person. I’m pretty sure every time I’ve posted a status update, or mentioned that I’m not doing so well irl, you’ve checked in on me, shared words of patience and encouragement. It really helps me push forward in my life, while still feeling wanted and acknowledged here on Tumblr.

a tip on winning volkner’s heart

This is going to sound hella cliche, but be yourself. 

Okay, this may not work if the other party happens to be a genuinely shitty person, but hear me out. There are few exclusive traits that Volkner specifically falls for. The thing that hooks him is different in every single case with each different person, so you really don’t want the thing that wins his heart to have been insincere in any way. 

It’s often the little quirks that make him fall for a person, a certain habit, facial expression, vocal tic, etc. His love is unique, so the thing that wins his heart will also be unique, every single time. That means his love is one that requires genuineness.

In general, he’s both observant and sensitive. For the most part, except for when dealing with a skilled manipulator, most people can tell when someone is not being completely genuine with them. Volkner is much the same. He has a difficult time relaxing around someone if he gets the sense they’re not being themselves. It often takes the other party opening up in order for Volkner to do the same. 

There are, of course, always exceptions. There are people who are so adept at manipulation that it would take a skilled eye to see through it, and while there are certain kinds of acts and types of people that Volkner is naturally suspicious of, he certainly is not immune to being duped by someone, if that was really their intent.

Whenever she looks back on her first few months of being a Gym Leader, she cringes. Candice was a huge sore loser. She would refuse to give trainers their badges if they beat her, especially when they tried to “cheat” by using fire types (she was 14 at the time btw).  

Capturing the three regis is probably the proudest moment(s) of her life. It was a difficult and long process that ultimately led her to change.

▲ One thing you absolutely can't stand about RP in general

sprinkling salt on: fanon + unwillingness to see past fanon

okay, last one. and short. ‘cause it’s 2am and I’ve been studying nonstop for almost 15 hours.

The more I develop and commit to Volkner as a character, the more disillusioned I grow with the Pokemon fanon. It’s frankly unrealistic how the fandom views Volkner, and lacks any depth or consideration into how human beings typically work. 

I’ve worked very, very hard to develop a character who goes beyond that, spent a lot of time fleshing out the details and subtleties of the character I play, and I do my best to do my character justice in the way I portray him in every post (with the exception of crack posts). 

It’s unbelievably frustrating to interact with someone who is stubbornly holding onto the fanon of the character, someone who refuses to look beneath the surface of a character’s actions. 

Bottom line is that I put a lot of thought and consideration into my character, which consumes both my time and effort, and it strikes me as incredibly disrespectful and aggravating when that effort is conveniently tossed aside for some shitty fanon interpretation I didn’t consent to.
