Things happen here that cannot be expressed.

Emotions run high.

You are changing. You were always changing.

Region Properties of the Realm Beneath the Mountain

You are lost.

Nothing here is familiar.

The paths are always shifting.

This place is maddening!

Everyone who lives in this place is trying to lead you astray.

You are never certain if you are doing the right thing.

You are never certain if there even is a right thing to do.

And a few Fairy Tales Conventions:

Things are never as they appear.

Witches are almost always right.

Sometimes, the best way to resolve interpersonal conflict is a midnight duel.

i wrote these a while back and realized i never posted them. i am somewhat proud of these.

Locations are non-literal.

Things rot, both inside and out.

Emotions manifest physically.

Emotions beckon the Outside.

The veil between this world and the world of dreams is thin.

Only the strongest of wishes allows you to be free.

The Region Properties of the Rider’s House

You are safe. You are at peace.

Your need are provided for, so you can rest.

You stand at the threshold of the Outside. This place exists far apart from the world.

You will be accepted here no matter who you are, no matter what you have done.

You fear nothing here.

There are things here that you should be afraid of.

This is a place where spinners spin their empty schemes. This is a place where a Riding of Excrucians dwells.

these are some region properties i wrote for a cursed outside shrine that is an important part of a campaign i am running

Touhous in Chuubo’s: Notes and Gensokyo’s Region Properties

I’m going to be building characters based on the following assumptions:

Each character is a main character (read: potential PC) on Miraculous arcs. 

I’m going to aim for encapsulating a character’s experience into one arc, for simplicity.

I want to try to keep characters to 3 total arc levels. 

These characters are not at any particular point in time, besides “sometime after their first Windows appearance”.

My priority for what’s important to model goes theme → demonstrated abilities (game, manga, or fiction) → things mentioned in the fluff. So, say, Remilia’s “Fate Manipulation” will be less well-represented than her “I am a vampire combat monster raar”.

I may handwave more bizarre, one-off capabilities as having been accomplished via Quest Miracles.

Gensokyo as a Region

I’d represent Gensokyo as having the following Region Properties:

Humans must fear Youkai.

Youkai must prey on humans.

Conflict must be resolved following the rules.

Everyone is able to fly even without wings.

The Human Village must be protected.

and I would be tempted to borrow from Soma Village:

You are at risk of becoming a legend, or a god.

These are all, mechanically, Bonds, so players can ignore them for any reason including “reasons”. But I think these are what I would use to run a game set there.
