Well, 'Fun will now commence' is clearly catnip to a Seven fan! Can you tell us something about that one please? :)
Fun will no commence – oh, boy. It’s a pain in my ass it’s what it is. But one that is close to my heart. I’ve been sitting on this one since I finished “Connection”. It’s the non-crack version of “Stop Talking”. I keep thinking I could write PWP despite having ample evidence that I cannot.
So, what is it about if it’s not only smutt? It’s about Seven and Raffi dealing with the consequences of Seven giving up control. There’s a lot of hurt & comfort. It’s also a trip back memory lane to Seven’s time on Voyager and to Icheb in particular. There are also sprinkles of fun headcanons mixed in there.
Basically, it’s about Raffi and Seven connecting even more.
[...] “The only time I heard about the Borg negotiating anything was when they fought species 8…” Raffi’s face crunched up in concentration.
“Species 8472,” Seven said.
Seven nodded. “Yes. That was the same event that led to my link to the collective being severed.”
Seven cocked her head. “You seem to be quite well informed about things that happened in the Delta Quadrant.”
Raffi lifted her chin. “I was Starfleet Intelligence.”
“Romulan affairs being your specialty.”
“Exactly,” Raffi said. “But Voyager was famous, especially once contact was re-established and even more so when you returned.” She shrugged her shoulder and grinned mischievously. “Of course I took a peek at some of the files.”
Seven felt the corner of her mouth quirk up into a smile. Yes, of course you would, she thought.
“You looked very different back then.”
“I was very different back then,” Seven replied.
Raffi tilted her head. “I’m tempted to follow that thread of the conversation. But I’m really curious about the four Borg—“ Her eyes widened. “Hang on a minute… no, that can’t be.” She leaned forward. "The erratic behavior didn’t come from these kids being in control of the cube?!”
Again, the corner of Seven’s mouth lifted.
“No!” Raffi breathed. “Well, what are you waiting for?”
“For you to stop talking or asking questions,” Seven deadpanned.
“Oh.” Raffi looked at Seven sheepishly. “Does it bother you? Me asking questions?”
“Only when you complain two seconds after your question that I’m not sharing information fast enough.” Seven lifted her chin and looked down her nose at Raffi.
A grin spread across Raffi’s face. “I’ll keep that in mind.” [...]
