I opened the portal, prepared to enter the other side. Before I did though, I waited. Hesitated. It didn't feel... normal.
Probably cause we forcefully activated it, Regis said in my mind. Just ignore it.
I nodded and stepped to the side. All seventy three Dicathian survivors, including the recently rescued Tessia and recently revived Sylvie, prepared to enter whatever relictomb we found ourselves in. They each wore a wristband that would keep us together, fashioned by Gideon.
"Alright everyone, move! We have Alacryans on our tail!" I shouted, causing everyone to run into the portal, appearing wherever it was. I jumped in, and godstepped in front of everyone to see where we were.
We seemed to be in what was a school of my old world. Students were gathered, staring at us.
Papa, where are we? Sylvue asked me mentally.
Finally, as expected, an alarm sounded, and several adults pushed passed the children. I could tell they were about to engage us.
"Stop." I said monotone. I had laced my voice with aether though, and they felt the power behind my words.
"Who are you?" A dark haired man with poor hygiene asked.
Virion walked up, and I stepped back.
"We are refugees from the land of Dicathen. Our home was under attack, so we took a teleportation gate left by our ancestors into regions unknown and fled. If we are trespassing, we will gladly leave this advanced establishment of yours." He explained, leaning on a wooden stick to support his own body.
"Refugees?" A blond man with speakers on his body whispered to the dark haired man. "Shota, we should hear them out."
The dark haired man raised an eye in suspicion. "Fine." He grumbled. "If you are who you say you are, we'll take you to a medical facility to treat your wounded, then get your story straight."
Virion nodded, and I saw Ellie limp towards me.
"Hey El, looks like we might have found some new allies." I said to her.
She nodded. "Brother... the mana here, it doesn't react to the people. Does the aether?"
I nodded. "It could be that these are a remnant of the Djinn. I doubt it, though. The portal felt a little wierd."
We followed them into the school, where at the nurse's office, there was a single old woman.
"Recovery girl, take care of their wounded. They're refugees."
I gestured to my mother to come and help.
"My mother here is an emitter. She can help with less severe wounds." I told them. The looks on their faces told me they were confused.
"Like, an emitter type quirk?" The blond man asked. I had learnt his name was Hizashi Yamada, and that most people here preferred their last name to their first.
"Uh," I said, unsure, "what's a quirk?"
The three individuals from this land were genuinely surprised.
"It's like a superpower, like the thing you did with your voice."
I chuckled. "That was aether. I simply laced my voice with the substance that seems to give you these 'quirks'."
The woman had gone with the wounded, along with my mother. I decided to explain magic to these people.
"Sylvie, can you help me here? Kezess probably taught you loads about mana." I said to my daughter.
My little girl walked up and bowed to the two men. "Hello, my name is Sylvie Leywin. It seems your culture is ignorant to the various mana nad aether arts. Let me help my father explain."
Aizawa smiled. "My little girl has a horn too. Does it relate to her quirk?"
She shook her head. "No, it's my race. I am a half asura, specifically of dragon and basilisk lineage. These horns are from my biological father, the king of the basilisks, and the one we're hiding from."
They seemed a little surprised at my little nine year old's manners, but then realized something.
"You aren't from this reality, are you? We don't have dragons or basilisks." Aizawa said.
"Yeah, Shota's rights. Are you from another world?" Yamada then repeated.
I shrugged. "I have no clue. We were trying to enter the relictombs when instead we popped up here."
Aizawa nodded. "That's okay. Plus, it's always good to see another foster father. How do your abilities work?"
I proceeded to tell them about aether and mana, while Sylvie explained anything I didn't know or got wrong.
"And why are you refugees? No offense, but there's barely a hundred of you."
Sylvie looked at me solemly. I decided to tell them.
"Our numbers used to be in the hundreds of thousands, but we lost the war so horribly we were the only ones left willing or able to fight." I said. "Us seventy three - four, including me, are all that survived the most recent attack."
Sylvie nodded. "If my papa hadn't shown up, nobody would have survived."
Aizawa grimaced. "Are you the leader?"
I chuckled and pointed to Virion, who was conversing with Helen Shard. "My grandfather in law, Virion, is the leader. He's tried oh so many times to give me his position, but we both think the other is better for the job."
Yamada snickered while Aizawa cracked a smile. "Well, we can keep you in the dorms. We have plenty left." Aizawa offered. "Of course, the principle would have to okay it."
Literally everyone jumped at the loud and high pitched voice. I looked at where the voice originated, and saw what seemed to be a teddy bear.
"Is the principle a... shapeshifter?"
The white creature shook its head. "No, I simply am an animal! My name is principal Nezu."
I shrugged. "Well, I've met a tribe of facist talking birds. This isn't too hard to believe. My name is General Arthur Leywin, and this is my daughter, Sylvie."
Nezu grinned. "I can already tell you two are much, much stronger than appearances suggest! Ooh, I have a great idea! Why don't you spar with some of our students?"
I thought about it, the few healthy people behind me goving me looks of "Don’t you kill the fucking kids"
"Sure. I've always liked teaching."
All Might stood tall at the beginning of the training field. At the other end, there was a milky pale man with wheat blond hair. We were told he was immensly strong, and that we would be sparring him. A horned girl stood behind him, we were told she was his daughter, and was able to kick all our asses.
I was trembling with excitement to figure out what his quirk was. Kachan was the first to be allowed to spar him.
"Don’t hold back!" Kachan shouted.
"I've killed gods, kid. If I didn't hold back I'd level this school and half the city." The man said, throwing his poncho off and walking onto the battlefield.
"Regis, stick out of this." He then said. A shadow wolf popped out of his body, grumbling, and sat next to the girl.
I immediately jotted this down that he seemed to have a similar ability to Tokoyami.
Kachan blasted forward, and reached the man almost instantly. I saw him smile as Kachan used one of his most powerful attacks.
When the dust settled from the explosion, the whole class's jaws dropped. Kachan was unconcious, on the ground, while the man was uninjured.
"Someone tell him my advice when he wakes up." The man said. "Tell him that his attacks are strong but what he just did put him in immense risk. His attack was emotional, probably prideful, and had no real strategy. If this was a real fight I could have killed him using hand-to-hand combat alone."
We were all wide eyed. His daughter dragged Kachan off the field, and Kaminari went up next. He was sweating, and nervous.
"Don’t worry, I won't go as hard on the rest of you all. Just needed to do a quick demonstration."
Kaminari seemed to calm down ever so slightly. "Well then, please go easy."
I saw, out of the corner of my eye, Jiro twiddling with her ear jacks.
Kaminari stayed in the edge of the arena. This time, the man made a move.
With a flash of purple lightning, he teleported right in front of him.
I jotted this down, and watched Kaminari release a good portion of electricity. The attack didn't phase the man, but he pretended to be shocked as Kaminari jumped away.
Then, Kaminari shot one of his metal discs at the man. He caught it, and crushed it in his hand.
"Augh!" Kaminari shouted, releasing the rest of his lightning.
The lightning arced along the man, who had a big smile.
"Your powers are very similar to what I used to have before I lost my mana core, but you're extremely poor at using them." He said.
"I have a friend, he could help train you in using it." He then said. "I can also see that you're out of juice. Round over."
The man, who All Might now told us was named Arthur, grimaced at sight of Iida's engines.
"Why do you have engines embedded in your legs?" He asked.
"I was born with them, sir." Iida said stiffly.
Arthur’s eyes widened. "That's gotta hurt. Well, get on with it. Attack."
Iida ran forward and attempted to kick at Arthur. Arthur silently blocked every kick, not moving an inch from where he was standing.
Finally, he grabbed Iida's leg and threw him out of the ring.
"Your fighting style is impressive, but you have little power behind your attacks, at least, compared to who I've fought."
Arthur then grinned. "I recommend taking a while to focus only on your physical prowess, same with you, lightning kid."
I went up onto the stage. His talk of focusing on not just our quirks, but our body as a whole was a great idea.
"If you want to know why I say this, it's because from when I was nine to when I was twelve, I did nothing but train my swordsmanship against beasts that could kill your entire class." He said. "All your attacks are wreckless, and focus too much on your powers."
I prepared to attempt to use this newfound wisdom and activated One for All. His eyes widened and a grin spread on his face.
"Kid, you look like I did during my fight with Cadell." Arthur said.
"You're right, princess!" The shadow wolf said, getting a laugh out of Kachan, who had woken up. "He looks like that, with his crazed look and how his body is ripping itself apart from its own power!"
"Looks like I won't go as easy on you."
My eyes widened as I found his fist already embedded in my gut. I twisted to make the attack do less.
He then followed up with an elbow strike, and a sword of pure energy appeared in his hand.
I blocked the sword and punched but he blocked all my attacks.
This continued for only five more seconds before I was knocked clean out.
