it’s got my mind, it’s got my soul;

It was the same dream she’d had the night before. Cassie couldn’t shake it, no matter how hard she tried, couldn’t change what happened or what she saw. Mary MacDonald in the hallway, screaming on the floor, her father calling her a traitor as she received her Dark Mark, being dragged through the bank and marked, blood on her arm and the words TRAITOR carved there for all to see. She kept trying to tell herself that it was a dream, that it was alright, that she knew what was happening and knew that it had to be over soon, but it wasn’t. It felt real, and that was the part that scared her the most.
That was the part, until Regulus’ body hit the ground next to her, arm marked with the same letters as hers, TRAITOR, and eyes staring blankly back at her.
“Traitor,” Beni whispered from the corner.
She woke up and someone was holding her wrists, saying her name, trying to get her to put down her wand as she tried to point it at their head. She gasped, whole body shaking as she tried to focus on their face. It was Regulus, looking at her like she’d completely lost her mind. Her wand dropped from her hand.
“I’m sorry,” she stammered out, still shaking as she tried to make herself relax. Her Dark Mark wasn’t burning; she was here, she was safe. It was okay. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It was just a dream.” Her throat felt raw; she thought she might’ve been screaming. She sucked in another few uneven breaths and unclenched her hands from fists. “I-I’m sorry.”
