Falling For Regulus Black Despite Being Best Friends With The Marauders:
You and the Marauders were basically best friends for life
You never really classified yourself as a ‘Marauder’
But everyone could tell you were just as close with them as they were with each other
You were in Gryffindor as well
And this year you were going into your seventh year with them
It was your last year so you guys were trying to spend a lot of time together before you finished school forever
Because you were so close with them, you knew parts of Sirius’ home life
You knew that it was shitty, you knew he had to go to James’ during the holidays because he had nowhere else to go and you knew he had a younger brother
You had seen Regulus on many occasions
Yet, you had never spoken to him
And you weren't really sure whether he knew you existed or not
One day you were walking to class and bumped into him
He said sorry and helped you up
And his voice was like perfection
It was a heavenly noise that was deep and quite smooth
You were in awe at his voice
Who knew someone’s voice could be this beautiful?
He smiled at you when he handed you your books that fell out of your arm
And his smile was breathtaking
“Hey, you’re friends with Sirius aren’t you?”
Most people just walked past you guys, unaware of the situation happening right now
You weren’t sure whether Sirius was on good or bad terms with Regulus, so you decided to be nice to him, just in case
“Yeah, you’re his brother right?”
You knew the answer, but you were just trying to make conversation
You guys started walking to your class together
Although you weren’t sure whether his class was nearby
As you guys were walking you started talking
It was only small talk, but it was still nice
You got into your class and couldn’t stop replaying the situation that just happened
You weren’t sure why, but it was a nice thought
You and Regulus were now acquaintances
You felt weird saying that
But you guys didn’t really talk
You guys smiled at each other if you made eye contact
But neither of you really made eye contact purposely
It was weird
But both of you now knew of the other's existence
You decided to ask Sirius about his brother, to see what terms they were on
You decided to wait until the topic was actually brought up, to make sure it didn’t sound weird if you asked
Thankfully it came up one night and you decided to ask
“If you don’t mind me asking, what terms are you and your brother on?”
Sirius made a disgusted noise
“Perfect Regulus?”
He laughed bitterly when he said that and continued
“Mother and father’s favourite. Has to do everything his parents says and does it perfectly.”
He spat out the words
You nodded, so it probably wasn’t good if you befriended Regulus
You weren’t sure why Regulus was still on your mind though
He bumped into you over a week ago
It wasn’t until your next Hogsmeade trip that you spoke to Regulus again
You said you would meet the Marauders at the Three Broomsticks and left after them
While you were waiting in line to get your name marked off, you saw Regulus coming up to you
He smiled at you and greeted you
You greeted him back
Sirius would probably kill you if he saw you talking to him
But Regulus didn’t get the hint that you weren’t interested and continued talking
Once again, it was mainly small talk
Regulus was quite the conversationalist
Which shocked you as he was usually quiet and stuck to himself
But you were talking to him for quite a while and you got to know him a little better
You found out some of his interests and watched his eyes sparkle when he got excited
He told you some funny jokes he heard and you watched his eyes crinkle when he laughed
This was when you realised just how pretty he was
He was different to Sirius
Sirius, yes was quite hot, but Regulus was hot as well
You mentally shook your head
You can’t think he is hot
Later that day, Sirius started questioning you about his brother
Somehow he saw you talking to him
He told you to stay away from him because his family was nothing but bad news
You nodded your head and assured him it was just friendly conversation
Although you did stop talking to Regulus, you couldn’t stop yourself from watching him all the time and constantly thinking of him
He was very attractive
And his smile could light the room up
And the way he would run a hand through his hair was amazing
And his voice was like angels singing
All of him, was beautiful
But you couldn’t do anything about it
Because you didn’t want to lose your friendship with Sirius
Not in the seventh year
Not ever
So you were stuck watching Regulus from afar
Your heart fluttering whenever he did anything
Your heart swooning whenever he looked even the slightest bit attractive (which was basically all the time)
Hoping, that one day you could maybe have even just a friendship with him
